Klaus had grudgingly taken his hybrids and remaining daggered siblings to find the nearest town. Maybe it would give him the chance to cool down. Or he was plotting.

He was probably plotting.

Kol paced in front of where I sat on the hood of Klaus' car. "You swore to me you wouldn't do this."

"I saw an opportunity and I took it." I rolled up my sleeve. "Now, I know you need blood so here."

He stared at my wrist. "I won't drink from you, my love. Not when I haven't fed in decades."

"I trust you."

"That's not the issue." He stepped forward, gently tugging my sleeve back down. "I don't trust myself to not drain you."

"Well the only other option is unleashing you on some poor person and they die instead. At least with me, you'll be motivated to stop." Unless he didn't want a soulmate after all.

Kol sighed. "You're certain?"

"Obviously you won't have all the blood you need, but we can do a little bit over the next few days, then it won't be so bad."

He pushed my sleeve down, veins creeping along the skin below his eyes.

I'd never get over how fascinating that was. I reached out, lightly tracing them. Kol watched me carefully before slowly biting into my wrist. I had to resist the urge to rip it away when I felt the fangs pierce my skin. "Holy shit."

That hurts.

How did Elena let Stefan bite her all the time when this is what it's like?

He didn't drink for long, thankfully. It still stung when he let go. "Are you alright, Angel?" Kol offered me his blood but I refused, instead hopping off the hood to get to my backpack.

"I'm fine. Just never been fed on before." I used to carry around those large bandaids at school for when we'd have a vampire attack and I think I had some left. Apparently no one else in the group could be bothered to have that on hand.

It was stupid, in my opinion. We ran into an aggressive supernatural like every week.

Kol followed me, bordering on being too close as I cleaned up my wound the best I could. I was grateful this shirt was already red. "Never been fed on? Don't you have your vampire besties?"

"They're hardly my besties. If you remember, I kind of left on bad terms. Klaus is making us go back so he can torment me for not telling him about Elena being alive." Of course, I'd be lucky if he didn't kill her because I released Kol. "Oh and here's your dagger, it's probably safer with you."

I pulled the blade from the bottom of my bag.

We'd have to talk about the fact that we're soulmates and he was finally awake at some point, but I needed to be focused on the inevitable return to Mystic Falls.

How could I warn them? Klaus had my phone.

"What if you sped me to my house? Then I could maybe help them prepare." I sat on the passenger seat, legs out to the side.

Kol's eyes twinkled in amusement. "And risk Niklaus' temper? I don't fancy going in a box again and you're still very human. He is a vindictive bastard."

"Yeah but my family is still human, which puts them in danger. Plus there's the added bonus that lugging your siblings around slows him down a little. It would be enough time for my friends to have an advantage and Klaus is already angry."

"Don't underestimate his flair for the dramatic."

"I'm glad you think so highly of me, brother." Klaus appeared, glancing at my bandaged wrist.  "I wouldn't recommend running, Drew Gilbert, unless you'd like to test which of us is faster."

"Careful Nikalus. While I won't go out of my way to piss you off, it'd be in your best interest to not threaten her. Lest I decide our siblings need to join the party." Kol warned, his hand resting on my knee.

"Alrighty boys. Let's put the rulers away shall we." I pat his hand before adjusting in the passenger seat. "Klaus if you want to deal with the Salvatores again, be my guest. I haven't seen either of my siblings in six months so we might as well get this over with."

Klaus laughed. "Getting a bit fiery aren't we, little mouse."

"Getting a little annoying aren't we?"

His brows raised, an amused grin on his face. "Don't think because you have Kol to hide  behind that I cannot punish those around you. I'm sure Jaime would enjoy breathing."

"Don't you touch him." I got up, even if I knew I couldn't do anything.

"Then behave and perhaps I won't." Klaus turned to Kol. "Good luck with that one, brother."

"Oi!"

Kol laughed. "This time I'm not trapped in your dreams." The smile melted off his face. "There are a few friends of yours I'd like to kill."

"What? No! You can't just kill them."

"They've endangered you far too often for my taste. Damon especially. I'll gladly rip out his heart."

Oh this was bad. This was so bad.

I needed to get back to Mystic Falls.

Preferably without the murder twins.
