Avalanna Carlson

I walked into the small little studio, today I was doing something that I have never done before. I was reached out to a couple of days ago by a social media influencer. She has this podcast where she talks about everything. She asked me if I wanted to guest host it and so I was here today to do that.

"Hey" Kelsey smiled, she was from New York, I knew a little bit about her. Not much but a tiny bit. "Hey you" I smiled and pulled her into a hug. "Come over and sit down, we'll get you settled" she smiled.

I was sitting on a leather couch, Kelsey was sitting on a chair beside the couch. This was being filmed and put out online so I made sure I looked decent and didn't show up in sweats.

I was wearing a pair of beige pants with one of my favorite shirts, it was black and had rhinestones on it that said ' NYC'. I had a pair of vans on too, it all matched pretty well.

I had a microphone in my hand and a pair of headphones on. "Are you ready?" Kelsey smiled, "yeah, let's do this" I nodded.

"Hello guys, welcome back to the art of women, a podcast where I talk to women about life, success, happiness and so much more, make sure to stick around to hear our guest story" Kelsey introduced. "Today I'm honored to have Avalanna Carlson with me, welcome" she smiled.

"Thanks" I smiled, "so can you tell the people out there what you do? And for how long have you done it?" she smiled. "Sure, I'm a stylist, I've been working alongside Bode and Versace and I'm a stylist at Gucci," I said. "I've been working since I was nineteen," I said.

"And just to get back to the roots, how did you figure out you would be a stylist?" Kelsey asked me, "I guess I always loved dressing up, the idea of going crazy and just putting outfits together made me fall in love with the work" I said. "I studied it in college, it helped a lot" I said.

"You've obviously been working with some big names.. Lady Gaga, Elton John.. And most recently Harry Styles" Kelsey said. I nodded, "how is it? Do you get used to the people you need to work with?" she asked me. "I feel like I've always been really cautious when it comes to this part of the job because you really do have to be the professionel one," I explained.

"But I'm also pretty shy in general, I don't just talk to people right from the start, I like to get to know people and I wouldn't piss them off" I smiled. "Right," Kelsey said, "how would you describe it all? The work? Do you get to take all those memories in at all when it all happens so fast?" she asked me.

"You know some people are just people I have to style for one night, I rarely connect when it's such a short time" I said. "But I feel like.. Some people are just different, some wanna get to know you on another level, it's a nice feeling" I smiled.

"Can we talk about Harry?" she smiled, "sure" I said. "Was he the one hiring you?" she asked me, "no, his manager Jeffrey was" I said. "That must have been pretty intimate, working with a person who everybody adores?" she said. "I think it's been really intimate as well yeah.. You live with everyone for three months straight" I told her. "You can easily get on people's nerves if you don't communicate enough, I feel like we all were good at talking if we needed to" I said.

"What was the best part about this job?" she asked me, "the best part was seeing all the different places" I said. "Have you learned anything from this job?" she asked me, "I've got to learn a lot of things about myself on that tour, it's been such a fun time for me to get creative and get some friends" I smiled.

"Let's talk about you growing up" Kelsey smiled, "tell me about your family, you're from Silver lake, right?" she asked me. "Silver lake" I nodded, "I grew up here, my parents are from here" I said. "My brother lives in New York," I said. "Do you get to see him a lot?" Kelsey asked me, "yeah, I make sure to visit him as much as I can and he comes out here whenever he can" I smiled.

"How supportive would you say your family has been of you in the business you're in?" Kelsey asked me, "really supportive" I said. "I mean there's always low's and high's in the work business," I said. "My brother once told me that whatever I wanted to do I could do, maybe it would take some time to get where I wanted to be but it was possible" I said. "I really go back to that a lot, he's a big support" I smiled.

"Can I just say you looked so gorgeous this friday at the gucci event" Kelsey smiled, I smiled too. "Who did you go with?" She asked me, "I went with one of my friends, Nellie," I smiled. "She actually was with me in New York, I told her I got an invite to the event and that I didn't originally want to go.. But she convinced me and it was really nice to get ready for once" I smiled. "For months I've just been walking around in sweats" I chuckled.

"Sometimes sweats is good though," Kelsey pointed out, "I know right?" I smiled. "But yeah, we went, we saw Harry Lambert who's become a good friend of mine" I said. "Both of you work for Gucci, right?" she asked me, "yeah, well he's more independent, he's done it for more years than me" I said. "But we've had some good months, I was his assistant on tour and he really let me make a lot of decisions on tour" I smiled.

"The media has been on your back recently, how do you deal with it? Are you the type to not check it out?" Kelsey asked me. "I am" I nodded, "I don't know a lot about it, I've never been a big fan of social media either" I said. "I don't like the way they portray people.. They can get it so wrong because all they have is a picture and that's all they see, you know?" I said. "Yeah" she nodded, "it doesn't bother me anymore, it did in the beginning because people were telling me what everyone was saying about me but now.. Now I just.. It doesn't matter to me because the only person who knows me is me" I said.

I took a seat in the car, I just finished recording the podcast episode with kelsey. I started the car, I was meeting up with Lambert.

I parked the car, I looked out to see Nellie and Lambert. They were not alone though. I saw Harry as well, with Jeffrey. I duck down, I was luckily parked in the other end of the parking lot. "Fucking Lambert" I whispered to myself.

I took a chance and started the car. I drove away and took out my phone to text Lambert that I couldn't make it because of work.

"Hey" Drew said, I looked up from my phone. "Someone is at the door," he said, "who?" I asked, "Nellie, Harry.. I don't know the rest" he told me. I got up, "I'm not home" I whispered, "really?" he smiled, "I mean it Drew, go tell them I'm not home" I said and walked upstairs.

"Sorry guys, I just called her, she's not coming home before late tonight" I heard Drew say. "Okay, thanks Drew," it was Lambert.

"Are you going to avoid him forever?" Drew asked me, "yes" I just said. "He broke up with me to be with someone else" I told Drew. "I think he misses you" he said, I looked away. "He doesn't, he wants to be friends," I told Drew, "and I told him that I wouldn't," I said and got up, "I need to move on, I've tried to move on for two months now, I have to keep going" I said.
