Just outside of Blue Base, Caboose and Tex stand side by side with their backs toward the disabled ship while Church stands opposite of them and several steps away, facing the two and the ship. Church turns toward Tex, crossing his arms over his chest.
Outside of Blue Base
Church: You can't just show up here and start bossing people around, Tex! Bossing people around is my job... and I put in the time.Tex sighs, mirroring Church and crossing her own arms over her chest. She takes a single step backward, stopping when her upper back taps against the outer hull of the ship and crossing one leg over the other, balancing the foot of her crossed leg on the toe of her boot.
Tex: I'm sorry, Church. But I had to leave when I found Wyoming.
Church nods, slowly dropping the chin of his helmet toward his chest plate.
Church: Yeah... Jessie and Tucker told me... well, it was really Andy and Tucker. But you didn't need to be a detective to figure out what had happened from the condition that Jessie was in.
Church quickly lifts his gaze back onto Tex as her entire body suddenly begins to tense, nearly imperceptibly, as if bracing herself for a punch to the stomach. Church quietly curses under his breath, his hands falling to his sides.
Church: Shit... Tex, I-
Almost instantly, Tex's composure returns and her body starts to relax. Meanwhile, Church is left to wonder if her mask of apathy and indifference is finally beginning to slip.
Tex: It's fine, I'm... I'm fine. I talked it over with him, and... he doesn't regret his decision. So, neither do I.
Church stares helplessly into the visor of Tex's helmet for several excruciating seconds before allowing a heavy sigh to escape him.
Church: After you found Wyoming... what happened?
Tex: I thought I had tracked him back to O'Malley... but by the time York and I got there-
Church immediately interrupts, shaking his head in disbelief.
Church: Wait wait wait, York? Your old freelancer buddy? ...fuck, was Carolina with him?
For another several seconds, Tex does not respond. She stands before Church unmoving, in complete silence. When she does eventually speak, her voice is dull and contains no trace of emotion.
Tex: ...no. She was already dead.
Caboose's hand suddenly shoots into the air.
Caboose: Okay, and what about Bermuda?
Church scoffs, refusing to even turn in Caboose's direction.
Church: That's not a state, dumbass.
Caboose's hand remains in the air. He rapidly waves it back and forth, bouncing on the heels of his boots.
Caboose: Portland?
Church growls, his helmet finally snapping to face Caboose.
Church: SHUT UP.
Caboose instantly becomes motionless, slowly lowering his hand back down to his side. Church turns his attention back toward Tex. She glances at Caboose before hesitantly continuing.
Tex: ...but York still had Delta.
Church hums, slightly lowering his gaze toward the ground.
