400 years.

Thats how long you'd been in Cryosleep.

At first, it was difficult to move, but the little ginger cat that let you out made you do so much running about, climbing and jumping that you forgot about it after long.

Unfortunately, not many memories remained inside your head. Only the fact that you were a human and the world had really gone to hell when you went into the cryopod had really stayed with you. Looking around, you saw nothing but grey concrete walls, fashioned with endless graffiti and posters. The putrid smell of rotting sludge had filled your nose, as you coughed, and the silence of the street was eerie.

Through your 'getting back to reality again' moment, the little cat had discovered a friend: a little drone who could talk on it's own? Advanced AI?? It greeted us and said its name was B-12.

-Timeskip to the Slums-

admittedly, just wandering into a weird looking street wasn't the wisest idea, but it was the best that the cat and B-12 had to offer. Unsurprisingly, the robots didn't exactly like that, so they fled the streets in fear. I mean, wouldn't you do the same if you saw a strange alien quadruped roaming your streets like they were theirs? But, as they all scurried out of the way, the cat just kept strolling along, with you trailing along behind.

At last, someone willing to talk. Yet, when you approached him, 'talking' was the wrong description. He was more babbling a string of sounds that made no sense.

"A different language? I may have to translate. Bear with me for a second, please." B-12 said

A few minutes passed, and B-12 spoke up again, in a different pitch this time, much deeper than his usual electronic chirp

"You're no zurk, nor are you a companion." The robot announced.

"Yes, we know. Can you help us find this place, please?" You blurted nervously, trying hard not to anger the intimidating bot.

"The outside? The only one willing to go there is Momo, but he gave up on the idea ages ago. You could try to convince him, but something tells me that won't happen anytime soon." He said, pointing to a neon orange sign, high up in the rooftops.

"Oh, well, thank you."

Once your little chat was over, he made a rather loud call, a call to say that everyone could come out of hiding and go on with their lives once again. You clapped your hands over your ears, trying to drown out the ringing it caused.

Once that was over, the cat and B-12 signalled you to follow them. Ears still faintly ringing, you followed.

-a lot of climbing later-

Finally, the neon orange sign. After what felt like an eternity of climbing, you finally reached it. Only an open window greeted you, which the cat was sat on. You peered inside, half expecting no one to be home.

But there was someone home.

A frustrated robot trying to fix something.

The cat jumped inside, leaving you outside, admiring the fashion sense of this strange new life form. The tropical coat he wore suited him well. How did he get it? Did he find it in the debris the humans left behind. While you were fixated on him, the cat startled him, making you jump at the sudden movement.

As he regained himself, he slumped to his knees and buried his face in his hands.

"It's never going to work again... Why did I let them leave? I'm all alone here now..."

You couldn't help but feel awful for him, and a wave of sadness overcame you suddenly. Weren't you in the same situation? All alone? The human race died out way before you woke up. Wow... That definitely hurt to think...

The cat nuzzled against him, catching his attention, and faced the window where you were standing. Surprisingly, He caught on, made his way to the door and unlocked it, letting you inside. As you walked through the door, he did a double take, making you more nervous than you already were.

"A-are you a human??" He asked, shocked.

You nodded, making him stare for a few seconds. A slight blush dusted your face as he apologized instantly, leaving a few streaks on the cheeks of his rainbow screen. The cat brushed his leg, startling him once again. He realised they were still on a mission to find the Outside, so he did the best thing he thought to do in that situation: give them his Outsider notebook.

The cat and B-12 scurried off once they formulated a plan, leaving you and Momo alone.

"I like how you decorated your living space."

"Heh, well, its not much... But its home and it is where I intend to stay." He laughed. You laughed with him, then the whole room plunged into silence once again, your cheeks slightly pink.

"So... The Outsiders... What is it?" You questioned, trying to spark conversation. It had worked. You both sat down on his sofa and chatted away about the Outsiders, Humans, and anything else you could think of.

Soon enough, the cat and B-12 returned, presenting 3 other books, all different to Momo's, but with the same symbol on the cover. The Outsiders symbol. As he read each of them, is eyes widened as he read a note. Once he was finished, he darted to the machine he was originally hitting, and began tinkering with it. A few moments passed and he sat up, a look of victory in his face as he beamed at you.

"Voilà! One transceiver, fully fixed!" He declared. You, for some strange reason, clapped for his achievement, making him blush and rub the back of his neck sheepishly. B-12 took the transceiver and hopped back into the cats back accessory.

"See that really tall tower, over there?" He pointed out the window for the cat to see. "The transceiver has to go up there, so it can communicate throughout all of the Slums and Midtown." The window was hauled open, and the cat hopped on the window sill. You were about to follow, but Momo gently grabbed your arm, making you turn and face him.

"Are you sure you don't want to stay here?" He asked, a hint of sadness in his voice.

"I have to get to Outside. If you want, I can come and visit you someday?"

He enveloped his hand around yours, the cool metal oddly comforting on your sore hands.

"I'd love that. But, before you go, can I know your name, please?"

"Y/n"

"Y/n... Thats a good name. Please be safe, Y/n."

You smiled, hopped through the window and, before you left, kissed the side of his 'face'.

"Huh. I've really fallen for a robot." You thought.

"Maybe thats not such a bad thing..."
