Zurks. Zurks everywhere. Ever since the attack, they stalked you. In your dreams, in hallucinations, stalking your every move and thought. It had been your fault, since you went on that mission alone. It was the rule to go out in more than 3s, but you'd disobeyed it. Now, they haunted you, making sure you payed for your actions, as if the mauling wasn't enough. The deep chunks of skin were patched up in bandage, like craters, and the scars and cuts looked like you'd just been pried open by a vicious jaguar. No matter that happened, they were there.

Except, of course, at home, where Clementine was. Clementine was your saviour, warding off the zurks, scooping you up into her arms and driving off. She was the one who fixed you up, luckily. Though, you kind of looked like you belonged in a sarcophagus, with the amount of bandages you had on. She was very protective of you, and for good reason. The PTSD you experience on most days it awful. When Clem goes out for things, the emotional pain you experience is unbearable, so she doesn't tend to be out for long.

Today was one of those days. Overthinking had taken over your brain, forcing you to stuff yourself into a cupboard in the kitchen. Small spaces weren't your favourite, but the zurks wouldn't find you here. They wouldn't look in a cupboard under the surface... Would they? You began to cry, as the thoughts came flooding into your head, like a waterfall.

Then, the door opened.

"Heya, lil one! Hope I didn't scare ya-" Clem was cut off abruptly, as you flung yourself into her arms, ignoring the stabbing pain under your bandages. "Ah... I was gone for a little longer than you expected, huh?"

"I don't feel safe, Clem." You whimpered into the crook of her neck.

"Well..." She picked you up, bridal style. "I'll make you feel safe, y/n. Not a single Zurk will get you, as long as I'm around, alright?"

"But how can you guarantee that? They could get you, then where will I be? Free food??"

"That won't happen, because A: we don't get Zurks in Midtown, and B: I have a genius of a friend that made a weapon to deflect them, so I can protect you." You snuggled into her scarf, the soft fabric acted as a pillow as your eyelids dropped.

"Awwh, you're that safe, you've fallen asleep for the first time in ages. Well, goodnight then, y/n. Always remember, i will always protect you, no matter what happens."
