A lot had happened in the last 8 months since Will had been possessed by the mind flayer and El closed the gate. For starters, it was summer time in Hawkins and school was out.
Relationship wise, Max and Lucas started dating a few weeks after the snowball last year. As for Mike and y/n, Mike asked her the following day for her to be his girlfriend as he didn't want to wait any longer to be able to call her his.
There had also been a new mall built in Hawkins called Starcourt. It was basically the new main hangout spot with many stores and a movie theatre.
That's what the party did most of the summer so far. They went to the movie theatre and were able to sneak in through the back of Scoops Ahoy, where Steve would let them in. He had gotten a job there.
That was there plans for tonight, or in 10 minutes to be more exact. Y/n, Mike and Will were gonna meet Max and Lucas outside the mall. Dustin has been at summer camp for about a month and comes home tomorrow. The party was planning to surprise him.
Mike had been over at y/n's house basically all day and had been hanging out in her room for most of it. Joyce didn't allow Mike to spend the nights, or allow y/n to stay over at Mike's house. She even made them leave the door cracked open when Mike was there. But she was working tonight so they had the door closed. Y/n didn't want any of her brothers barging in.
The same rules applied to Jonathan. He wasn't allowed to have Nancy stay the night either but y/n knew she snuck in. She could hear them late at night. Y/n felt like Joyce knew as well but chose to ignore it.

Y/n giggled slightly as Mike brushed his nose against hers before connecting their lips while 'Crazy for you' by Madonna played on her radio.
She smiled into the kiss and cupped his face with one hand, pulling him closer. Then tangled her hands in his hair. He liked it when she did that.
