Maeve

I wake up around 10 am and when I go downstairs I find the kitchen full of boys.

"You guys spent the night here?" I ask as I head to the fridge.

"Yea, after you left we watched another movie and it got late," Jake tells me while he sits at the dining table with a bowl in front of him.

I put some cereal and milk in mine and I join him, still sleepy. Lately, I've been feeling like I don't sleep at all.

"Where's mom?" I ask Grey "I haven't seen her since I got home yesterday"

"Maeve, you forgot?" he asks.

I raise my eyebrows.

"She went to grandma's, she's coming back tomorrow"

I nod.

We finish breakfast and I go back to my room, where I finally get to finish the book I started a few days ago.

A few moments after the boys leave, Grey comes to my room.

"What did he say this time?" he asks as he sits on my bed.

"What are you talking about?"

"Don't act stupid, I know dad texted you last night, what did he say, Winter?"

I go to my bookshelf and I start rearranging some of my books.

"The same stuff he tells me every time"

He sighs.

"Come here" he motions next to him.

I sit and he wraps his strong arms around me.

I am the spitting image of my brother, when I had brown hair I looked like I was his twin, except he has muscles and I don't.

"You talked with Atlas last night," he says and I know he is smiling.

He always wanted me to get along with his friends and when Atlas and I started hating each other, he tried multiple times to make us be friends again, but we were too stubborn.

"Thank you for being here," I tell him.

"Always"

After some time he lets go of me and leaves, he said something about meeting with Isaac and Jake.

I open my laptop and I start scrolling on YouTube, hoping I find something entertaining to watch. I almost fall asleep, but I hear the front door closing loudly.

I know it's not Grey, he never does that when I'm home alone.

I carefully get out of bed and go to my door, when I open it I almost have a heart attack when I see Atlas at the top of the stairs.

"What are you doing here?" I ask him.

"I forgot my jacket" he responds coldly.

"You could've knocked, you don't own this place" I hiss at him.

He takes a few steps closer to me until I have my back glued to the door frame. The man is towering over me. I can feel his breathing against my face, as I look up into his blue eyes.

"Do you have anything to say, El?"

I freeze. I haven't heard that nickname in ages, it's short for my middle name Elizabeth.

"That's what I thought," he says and continues his way to the guest bedroom.

"You son of a bitch" I curse as I close the door to my room.

When I first went to high school I met Grey's new friends, Isaac and Atlas, they both liked me, including Atlas, we were at some point best friends, but somehow we started to hate each other. Jake was Grey's friend since kindergarten so I already knew him and Kai came along because he joined the football team and was in half of my classes.

The only person that ever called me El or even Elizabeth was Atlas, when we started hanging out he somehow found out my middle name, and he started using it because he loved to annoy me, I guess he still likes to do that, but it's fine because right now the simple thought of him existing annoys the shit out of me.
