Maeve

My alarm goes on and I hardly open my eyes. I take a look outside and it's still dark after all is four in the morning. I get up from my bed and head to the bathroom. Tomorrow is Grey's birthday and he wants to go on a trip in the middle of nowhere, he says he found a really nice house in the woods by the mountainside. To get there it's a fourteen-hour drive, so we are going to skip school today. I can't wait to surprise him with the gift I got him. He's been dying to get a Golden Retriever and after months of searching with Jake we finally found one, unfortunately, he will get his present on Monday.

I start brushing my teeth; all week I avoided Atlas. I still don't understand why he did what he did and I am pretty sure that this trip is going to be literal hell. We are going to be stuck together in a house for three days. Amazing!

As I finish doing my morning routine, I change into a comfortable outfit. A pair of leggings, a black long-sleeve shirt, and a grey hoodie, on my feet I take my AirForces. Grey told me that the house has an inside pool so I made sure to get a bathing suit. I check my tote bag to make sure I got everything and then I go downstairs where I find my mother and my brother.

"Take care of her and take care of yourself," she tells him before turning to me. "Good morning, honey," she says smiling.

"Morning, mom," I say as I walk up to them.

"You two behave and take care of each other if anything happens call me," she says and I can tell she's worried, I mean I would be too. Her children that are fifteen and soon to be seventeen go on a trip that is fourteen hours away.

"We will be fine, mother," Grey says as he kisses her cheek. "Come on, Maeve we have to go," he tells me and motions to the door.

I take my brown puffy jacket and my tote bag and get to the car.

Grey hops in the jeep and starts the engine. "We have everything?" I ask.

"Yes, the bags are in the car, I took the sandwiches and the snacks" he assures me.

I nod. "We are going to go and take Jake, and then we have to meet with Atlas and the others at the gas station before we go," he says as he starts driving.

I put my AirPods on and as soon as I lay my head on the window I fall asleep.

~~~
My sleep is interrupted by the sunbeam that stays in my eyes and the grip on my leg.
I open my eyes and I take my leg away from the person next to me. I am not in my brother's car anymore.
"Good morning, sleepyhead" Atlas whispers driving. I look in the back and I see Isaac sleeping. Since when I am with them in the car?
"What am I doing here?" I ask.
"We switched you and Kai at the gas station," he tells me putting his hand back on my leg.
I see my tote bag at my feet and I grab my bottle of water from it. I take a few sips and I take a look at the clock on the board.
It's noon. I slept for a while.
"When are we getting there?"
"In about two or three hours," Atlas says. "Are you hungry? Grey left us some sandwiches" he adds.
"I'm fine," I tell him as I take his hand away from my leg.
"You avoided me this week" he whispers, making sure Isaac doesn't hear us.
"Did I?" I say as I turn to look at him.
He wears a black hoodie and a pair of sweat pants. His cologne fills my nose. His hair is messy and his eyes look straight ahead. His hand finds its way back to my thigh and hotness spreads at the place he touched me. God, I hate the way he makes me feel.
