Maeve

"You don't get to do that! It's not right!" I yell at my mother as we walk down the stairs.

"I am your mother and you will do what I tell you!" she yells back coming down after me.

"I am sixteen! You can't ground me over nothing!"

Jesus Christ, I want to hit something so bad! We've been fighting for the next hour over the fact that I spend too much time with Atlas or with my friends.

"You can't keep getting home at hours like this! You are still a minor!"

"How many times do I need to tell you that I was with Isa?"

"That's the problem, young lady! You're always with someone! You have school, you have homework! Spending time is not as important as school!"

"I have good grades, a clean room, I don't skip, what else do you want from me?! I need to have a life! I can't stay locked up in my room studying all the time!" I shout putting on my shoes.

"No, you're not! You're almost failing Spanish!"

"Almost..." I mumble crossing my arms and sitting in front of the entrance door.

"Don't talk back to me! Now you're failing Spanish, next year math and chemistry, and the list will go on!" she speaks loudly pointing her finger at me.

I want to get out of this house as fast as possible.

Grey and Jack are sitting now in front of the living room, looking at us.

"If you keep doing this you'll get nowhere with your life! You'll be nothing!"

"What?" I say out loud shocked about what she just said.

"Mom-"Grey tries to stop him, but she shoots my brother a glare, silencing him.

"If you don't pull yourself together, I'll send you to your father! Maybe he'll fix your attitude," she says without hesitating.

I hear a gasp from my right, but I don't turn my head. My eyes are glued to my mother. I feel the world spinning and tears stinging my eyeballs.

With no hesitation, I turn away grab a hoodie and walk out of the house slamming the door behind me.

Why would she say something like this? How could she say that?

I pull the hoodie over my tank top and start walking.

I feel my phone vibrating in the pocket of my sweatpants and pull it out. grey is calling me. I refuse his call and continue walking. Tears are streaming down my face, making my vision blurry.

I've had a lot of fights with my mother, plenty of them, but she never mentioned my father or that she'll send me to him like I'm just luggage.

When I get to Atlas's house my eyes are all puffy and wet from all the tears that are still coming down my face.

I ring the doorbell and wait for him to open the door. He's home alone this weekend, his parents went on a business trip and left Michael at their grandma's.

The door opens revealing a shirtless Atlas, looking straight into my eyes.

"Maeve? What happened?" he questions grabbing my shoulders and slowly pulling me inside the house.

"I-" I start but start crying even harder.

"My love..." he whispers pulling me into his chest, his arms wrapping around my shoulders protectively.
