Finding a movie was a bit challenging, considering that most of the channels were in French.
Although Kian could understand it fluently, Ellie could only make out a few words.
In the end, Ellie decided on a French version of A Cinderella Story, one that Kian was not very fond of.
Ellie claimed that she had already watched the movie a few times, so she didn't need to see the English version to know what is going on.
Their positions on the couch morphed from sitting on each side to Ellie somehow laying on the armrest and her foot partially in Kian's lap.
"Do you have any sisters?" Ellie asked, reaching into the popcorn bowl before jamming some in her mouth.
Kian shook his head, "Nope"
That is what Ellie thought, "Did you ever want one?" she pressed on.
Kian realized from the beginning of this trip that Ellie was a very inquisitive person. She asked a lot of questions.
Something he wasn't used to at all. She was fine once she didn't venture into topics that doesn't concern her.
"So, I can watch this?" Kian nodded to the television, "Thank God I don't"
Ellie pushed her foot into his thigh, "Cinderella is the OG. Don't you dare disrespect"
"Sounds like you were one of those girls who wore her princess dress for weeks straight" Kian grabbed her foot and pulled it onto his lap fully.
Ellie glanced at it but didn't move, matter of fact she added the other one. "I wore mine for a few days and then switch to my other one, for your information" she tilted her chin up and burst into giggles when Kian laughed.
"Eva would love you," Kian said coming down from his laughter. Ellie furrowed her brow at the foreign name and Kian noticed her quietness.
He tensed when he realized he had allowed yet another piece of information to slip his lips.
What was this that Ellie had over him that made him want to bare his soul to her?
"Who's Eva?"
Ellie briefly thought that he could be meaning a child and felt warning flares go off in her head.
She didn't mind guys with children, but it was the baby's mother that made her shy of them. It was always the drama that she was never into.
Kian cleared his throat, he debated heavily before he glanced at her. She was sitting with her head tilted looking at him quizzically. When Ellie realized he was going to shut down or avoid the question she turned it to her.
"I have an older brother. No children and my parents-" she paused. Maybe opening up about herself wasn't the route to take because talking about her parents was still hard for her.
Ellie felt hands coming to her legs, fingers brushing over them as if he was encouraging her to continue. She looked up at him with a frown.
"Sorry" she laughed awkwardly, "I don't really talk about my parents often. Uh-They're not here anymore"
Kian knew this information. He knew her file more than she know. However, he appreciate that she was willing to give her some information about herself.
"Sorry" Kian spoke, his hand still rubbing her leg. He glanced down at the action and then at the television, a small smile appearing on his face. "What was it like with them?"
Ellie blanks for a moment.
Speaking about her parents whether good or bad was always taboo for her. Ellie just couldn't make it through the conversation without feeling like she was drowning. Yet, as she sat on the couch with Kian and have his gray eyes watch her tentatively, she felt like she can do it.
