"You gone eat all of that?" Stacy's dark brown eyes peered over at Ellie's other half of her subway sandwich. Her dark hair fell from behind her shoulders as she reached over for it.
Ellie glared at her reaching hand and swatted it away before her red-tipped fingernails can grab it, "Yes, I am hungry".
Stacy pouted, full nude lips frowning as she pulled her hand to her chest in mock hurt, glaring at Ellie who intentionally stopped eating her half of the sandwich and started on the other one.
"Mean"
"You should have ordered more food than a 6-inch" Ellie told her, raising an eyebrow at her, "You were trying to be cute acting like you don't eat."
Stacy squinted at her, "And you been eating a lot lately". Ellie looked up from her meatball sub to stare at her best friend.
"What you talking about?"
Stacy shrugged and reached for her drink. She give Ellie a look before her eyes wandered over to their surroundings. "Better don't be preggo" Stacy mumbled as she eyed a man who was standing in the line.
Ever since the club shooting, the girls have been way more observant of their surroundings than before. However, while Stacy was surveying the restaurant, Ellie was internally panicking. The muscles in her stomach tightened uncomfortably and she felt her heart momentarily stop.
Ellie knew that there was no way that can happen, but she also knew that it wasn't impossible. She and Kian weren't always safe, so there could always be a chance.
Considering that she missed a few pills during their time together wasn't helping either.
Ellie shook her head, no way.
"Girl, bye" She tried to sound unphased by Stacy's comment, but her appetite had quickly died off at the mention of the word.
Ellie assumed it was more so because of her recent pregnancy scare two months ago. It was her first one and she had never felt so afraid of the outcome.
She had thought about being a mother and all that good stuff, she just wasn't sure she was ready right now.
She wasn't in a relationship and if she was pregnant, the father of the said child had nearly vanished into thin air and she just didn't want to be a single mother. Not that anything was wrong with it. She just grew up with both parents, - although homicidal, she just wanted her child to have a two parent household.
Ellie was a ball of worry while waiting on the test to come back with a result and when it showed negative, it was a mixture of emotions unfolding within her.
On one hand, she was relieved and on the other hand, she was scared that her clock was ticking.
She was almost 30 and she always had this idiotic dream of at least having a kid before that age.
"I mean she did have Mr. Mandingo up in her frequently," Randa's voice broke through Ellie's hazy moment of flashback and she looked over to see her dark-haired friend munching carelessly in the seat beside her.
Zoning out.
It was another thing Ellie needed to correct. Lately, she was always spacing out and hated that because she never use to. She hadn't come up with the right solution yet, but she had learned how to make it seem less obvious that she had gone straight to Mars in the middle of conversations.
"I thought we weren't talking about him anymore" Ellie tried to play it cool, but based on Stacy's coy smile, Randa's knowing eyes, and Gerry's grimace, she wasn't fooling anyone.
