Normani POV

Today was such a peaceful day. As exhilarating as ziplining was, the time Y/n and I spent together at the waterfall really helped clear my head and gain the confidence to tell her how I feel about her. Even though I was literally seconds away from changing my mind, I'm glad we're on the same page about our feelings. I'm excited to see what this dinner has in store for us.

I was told to remain upstairs, since Y/n was setting up outside and cooking dinner for us. It is all a surprise, and I didn't want to ruin it because all of the surprises have been good so far. So now I'm on the phone with Megan filling her in on our weekend so far.

"Oh. My. God. I have been dying to hear about how everything's going. Bitch lemme in on the details!" Megan said as soon as she answered the phone.

"It has been nothing short of amazing. Weirdly enough, I feel like I've been recreating the love my parents have for each other."

"That's so cute, I know your parents are huge role models for you."

"They really are, I've always wanted to have everything they have in love. They're not just lovers, but friends, and partners. My intuition has good feelings about Y/n, and I'm ready to trust it this time." I reply, blushing.

"I'm so happy for you Mani. After everything you've been through with 'he who shall NOT be named', you deserve good thing coming for you with Y/n. You seem genuinely happy and as your bestie, I officially approve!" Megan winks at me, which causes me to laugh.

"Girl, ain't nobody ask for your approval!"

"Don't matter! And now that I approve, you know your mom and dad are up next. So how do you think that's gonna go?"

"I don't know, my dad is pretty easy going. As long as I'm being treated like the princess he still views me as, he's all game. Plus Y/n loves sports so they'll get along fine."

"Oh lord, so we gonna have to go to the Super Bowl huh? Damn, I already told Pardi no!"

"Girl, take that man to the Super Bowl and stop playing!" I said cracking up

"Nooo Mani, he get to cheering and shit and then I gotta deal with his little attitude when his team loses. But if you and Y/n go, we'll go."

"Fine fine, we'll go too. Back to the question at hand though, I think my mom is a bit harder to please. She's the type to never forget any damage done to me so Y/n gotta come correct. But I think it'll be okay once they get to know each other."

"I think your mom will like her. Y/n is a crackhead when she gets comfortable so she'll win your mom over in a heartbeat. What about you meeting Y/n's parents? Has she mentioned them?"

"She has, it's a rough story but I don't think it's mine to share. I honestly don't know if Y/n wants me to meet them."

"Homophobic parents huh?"

"Unfortunately, which is a shame because if they could only get to know her now, they'd be so proud of her and who she's become."

"Their lost. They'll regret it when you two become the next Beyonce and Jay-Z."

"I don't wanna be the next Beyonce and Jay-Z... he cheated." I said laughing

"You right... well you know what I mean. You two are giving very much power couple. I'm excited to see y'all grow together seester!"

"Thank you seester! I love you but I gotta go figure out what I'm wearing tonight for dinner!"

"Love you too babes, and go naked! You can never go wrong with ya birthday suit!"
