Muffled noises filled George's ears as his eyelids began to flutter open. He was immediately uncomforted by the slight heat and blinded by overwhelming brightness of the sun that shone in the sky, ready to take on another day.
The brunette let a low groan escape his lips as his head pounded with a familiar pain that caused his face to scrunch up out of irritation.
As George's mind was attracted back to reality, he picked up on the sound of water splashing in the background as he began to slowly push himself off the concrete floor and into a sitting position.
The brunette rubbed the sleepiness away from his eyes before beginning to examine his now usual surroundings, his headache subsiding.
One of the first things the brit noticed was that the blonde was no where to be found. Brown eyebrows knit together in confusion as honey doe pupils frantically dart around in search of the other.
George's nerves began to slowly dissappear as he noticed the pond ring with ripples, sending vibrations throughout the small lake as Dream pushed himself up and out of the water.
The brit quietly watched as the American sat on the ledge with a sigh, his mask damp and hanging loosely infront of his face.
George watched the way his hair was humid and slumped down, pieces of it sticking to his forehead. The blonde's hair glimmered slightly under the sun's wrath, causing the brunette to go in a slight daze which he was soon pulled out of when Dream turned and looked in his direction.
"Oh- George, I didn't know you were up yet," the blonde spoke in a half startled voice.
"I just.. I just woke up.." The brunette slurred slowly on his words once Dream's attention was now on him, his eyebrows furrowing as the events from last night flashed in his mind.
As if Dream could see into his brain, the blonde asked, "How are you feeling?"
The brunette didn't answer. Instead, he just kept his gaze on the other, watching as the taller shifted closer towards him while drying out in the sun, per usual.
George opened his mouth to respond after a moment of silence, but no words came out.
That's when the brit felt it- that annoying familiar feeling of his stomach twisting with nerves and a large lump that was seemingly stuck in his throat.
The brunette hunter's sight went blurry as tears clouded his vision, his lips slightly agape.
Dream's expression softened under his mask as he outstretched a caring hand to the smaller the second he began to crumble.
"Hey, I know it's difficult, okay?" The blonde started truthfully, "But you're gonna get through this."
George clenched his jaw, screwing his eyes shut in attempt to stop his tears from falling as he, in a shaky breath, retorted with, "Nothing's gonna be okay. I'm literally delusional."
The emerald eyed boy shook his head, placing his palm flat against the knight's shoulder.
"You're not delusional, George. I saw them, too," Dream admitted, although he assumed that the brit already knew that.
The brunette parted his eyes slightly. "Well, looks like we're both delusional then," he said breathlessly, drawing a small chuckle from the American.
"It's all unusual and.. totally out of this world. But, everything's gonna be just fine."
Glossy eyes retract to the smiley mask that hovered infront of him, pooling even more with tears.
"I just.." George began, trying to explain how he felt but not being able to do so without breaking down.
"Hey, it's alright," the blonde repeated, noticing the current state of the other.
Swiftly, Dream pulled the shorter into a familiar embrace, holding onto him tightly as he tried to reassure him that everything was gonna be okay.
"I just don't know what to do anymore. I thought I left.. that in the past- everything that's happened recently, I thought I left it all behind. It's all just too much and I don't know how to handle it," the brit muttered quietly into the blonde's hoodie, his voice cracking inbetween.
As George's first curled around the green fabric, the masked man, instead of responding, began to run his fingers throughout the other's chest nut hair.
He twirled strands of them between his fingers and brushed it down in a comforting way, whispering sweet nothings into the shorter's ear until he calmed down.
The brunette withdrew a sharp, shaky breath, tears still rolling down his moist cheeks as he remained clutched onto the other.
George sighed, his heart thumping loudly in his ears as he pushed himself away from the blonde, looking up at the mask, pupils shaking slightly.
"It'll be fine," the blonde murmured quietly as he let his hands fall away from the hunter. Dream wiped his forehead, flicking his hair out of his face with a sigh, almost as if he weren't too sure of the words that were coming out of his mouth, and too be honest, the brunette really couldn't blame him.
As the tears stopped, the brunette just kept his gaze on the other, an evident frown on his face while his brown eyes darkened.
George wished that he could believe Dream.
