4 years later...
George looked at himself in the mirror for what seemed to be the billionth time that morning, making sure that he looked at least okay-ish before exiting the room. He was quite nervous to put it in simple terms, but it was a happy nervous. Today was a day that would change his life for the better, and he couldn't wait for it to happen.
George was disrupted from his thoughts when Wilbur knocked on the door lightly, asking for permission to enter. When the said permission was granted, the boy pushed open the door, having to duck in order not to hit his head on the door frame. The King had grown considerably taller than George remembered him to be. Speaking of, it had been four years since Wilbur was crowned the new King and things have been better than ever. They were all happy.
Wilbur was wearing a similar suit to George's, but just in void-like black color. The boy gave his friend a warm smile. "You ready?" he asked, basically feeling the nerves radiating off the hunter. "Yeah," George replied breathlessly, glancing at himself once more in the mirror before allowing Wilbur to walk him to their destination. As they were walking, George couldn't help but notice how neatly the castle was decorated; white curtains hung beautifully over the windows, the sunlight hitting them beautifully. Bouquets were tied along the railings of stairs and the chandeliers that hung above them seemed to be more vibrant than usual.
The air wasn't thin and George felt carefree, just as everyone had been feeling throughout the last few years. It was an indescribable feeling, and George hoped that he would never lose it. Not again, at least.
"You know, George," Wilbur began, catching the attention of the other. George turned to look at him, his head cocked to the side, but Wilbur kept his gaze ahead, his hands locked behind his back comfortably. "What is it?" George pressed. A smile broke out on the taller Brit's face— George had always been the curious type. "Ever since you crowned me King all those years ago, I feel like my life had changed for the better. It was a new chapter for me with the chance to start over— something I didn't know I was looking for until you gave it to me," he said softly. George listened attentively, opening his mouth to say something but Wilbur beat him to it.
The former Head Hunter finally looked at him, a smile plastered on his lips. "Thank you, George. I don't know what I would do without you. Thank you for always being here for me, even when I didn't know I needed it," the boy spoke, adjusting his glasses on the bridge of his nose. George was momentarily taken back due to the sudden outburst of affection, but he returned the boy's smile, nudging him gently in the shoulder. "Don't even mention it, man. That's what family is for," he replied.
Wilbur nodded, tearing his gaze away when they made it to their stop. "Well, this is it," he spoke, glancing at the shorter. George shook his shoulders anxiously. "Yeah, I guess it is, huh?" Wilbur smiled. "Go on, everyone is waiting for you. I'll be watching from above," he patted George's back encouragingly before turning away, his footsteps growing quieter.
George exhaled sharply, finally pushing the large, polished, golden doors open. He squinted his brown eyes for a moment, adjusting to the newfound brightness of the spacious room. People filled the stands before him, their eyes attracted to his figure as he made his way inside. "Hey, dude," Sapnap stepped out with a smile, offering a hand to him. George nodded in greeting, wrapping his arm around his friend.
Finally, George turned his gaze to the view in front of him.
Dream— Clay, the love of his life, stood only a few meters away from him on an altar, wearing a dark green suit, tears welling up in his eyes. George's eyes sparkled, and that's when everything began to hit him. Tears stung in his eyes as well, and he couldn't believe that it was all happening after so long.
"Hey, George?" Sapnap muttered as they slowly walked down the aisle. "Yeah?" George mumbled back. "I'm proud of you. I know I don't say it a lot, but I am," he confessed, his voice shaking. The site of his best friend caused the brunette to tear up even more, a happy smile touching his lips. "Oh, Sapnap," he whispered, causing the raventte to roll his eyes and sniffle lightly. "I'm not crying. It's not like your getting married or something," Sapnap spoke, the sarcasm evident in his voice. George softly chuckled, and they finally made it to the altar.
He spared Sapnap one last glance before walking up to Dream, becoming more emotional than he previously was. Their hearts pounded in their chests as they made eye contact with one another. Dream laughed softly under his breath, a tear escaping his eyes. "Hello, Georgie," he softly spoke, "You look really beautiful." George smiled wider than he ever had before. "Thank you, Dream. You don't look too bad yourself." His comment only caused the blonde man to laugh again before the formality finally began.
It was the same man from the local church— the priest, who had crowned George a king years ago. "Let us begin," he announced.
"Clay, do you take George to be your husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?" the priest spoke.
Dream looked into George's eyes ever so lovingly, and he felt as though he could melt on the spot. "I do," he responded with full confidence, his eyes welling up with tears once more as he slipped a silver ring onto the brunette's slender finger, an emerald gem in the middle.
"And George, do you take Clay to be your husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?"
George exhaled breathlessly, a smile on his face. "I do," he said, copying Dream's actions as he slipped the ring onto his finger, a blue ruby in the center.
"You may kiss your partner," the priest finally announced, and neither Dream nor George wasted a single second before bringing their faces together, their lips colliding with one another perfectly like a missing piece of a puzzle.
Wilbur smiled down at them from the top of the room.
Dream and George finally pulled away from each other after a few seconds, nothing but happiness filling the air.
Since the beginning, they may have not known it, but they were destined to be with each other, if not in this lifetime then in another, and if not for the better, then for the worst. It didn't matter what it was, because their love for one another was so deeply pure that nothing could separate them or break that bond they formed with each other that came from the core of the soul.
They had been through a lot together, but in the end, they persevered, just like Dream predicted they would. But in all truth, they couldn't have done it without one another, because if they didn't have each other at their side, they would be nothing but lost.
Without George, Dream was an empty vessel for anger and hatred. The whole world was against him and he lost everything, but when the pretty brunette boy came along, everything changed.
Dream pressed his forehead against George's before muttering a few words ever so softly.
I guess you could say..
"I was enchanted to meet you."
