Dream hadn't spoken to George over the course of the next few days, and even though George knew he deserved it, he still felt somewhat offended, hurt even. George knew he had it coming, but he couldn't help but feel like he had made the wrong decision and he regretted it. He hated that at night time he would lay awake while he listened to the peaceful, even breathing of the taller, questioning himself on whether or not he had made the right choice. Of course, logically speaking, that would've been yes, but mentally? George couldn't even begin to explain how he felt, and that's probably the worse part of it all.
Before, George wouldn't have hesitated on saying that he in fact didn't feel anything for the taller, but now.. it was, different. And the brunette knew exactly what the feeling was, yet, he couldn't be true to himself, no matter how much he tried. He felt horrible for going against the oath in which he had taken to King Philza, knowing that the King had given him anything and everything he needed; just for him to betray him. But then again, it all felt so euphoric, and he was here for it. Again, the gentle touches and the soft, soothing words that were spoken from the other's mouth just above the lobe of his ear was enough to drive anyone insane. And that was exactly what Dream was doing to George.
George shuddered at the mere thought of falling for someone you were meant to hate. It terrified him. After so many years of chasing Dream, unable to do anything while he killed, stole and terrorized, not only the Kingdom he lived in, but other kingdoms over the seas for months on end, he hated himself for feeling the way that he did. It was wrong, he knew that much, but again, the excitement alone was enough for him to want more. Knowing that it wasn't the right thing to do is what made him eager.
At first, the feelings confused George, but now, now he knew what it was. For once in his life, George understood his emotions; he understood how he felt. But like every other time, he didn't know how to deal with them, having built up a wall that rarely anyone ever got past, he didn't know what to do; never venturing out mentally before. His emotions were a problem and it would always be a problem until he did something about it. That was a problem.
However, there was another problem; these seemed to be a repeating pattern that George seemed to grow tired of, but nevertheless he managed to bring himself to put up with it. He was sure that if Dream ever found out how he felt, a switch would be flipped, and something that was never bound to happen would occur. For the most part of it, George wasn't dumb. He may not have been able to understand himself for most of his life, but he could analyze and get a reading on others easily. He saw the way that Dream looked at him that night, and he knows that Dream knows, too.
They both knew how Dream felt, yet, they left the words that always seemed to be plaguing their minds unspoken. Unlike George, Dream was able to come to term with his feelings, mostly because Dream had everything and nothing to lose. Dream was always known as the criminal who enjoyed the adrenaline that was gained while walking on thin ice, and now that George had met the sworn enemy face to face, he could quite tell that the supposed to be rumors were true.
They've both established in their heads that Dream had already acknowledged his feelings, and there was no doubt that he was waiting for George to say something; whether it was to come clean about how he truly felt, or lie about it for the sake of himself and everyone else. Part of George wanted to cower and lie, run and turn away from everyone and everything and just be alone by himself, like he always was. But after meeting Dream, he had unknowningly showed him a new element, a power that was clear to George that he didn't need to be alone. Even though Dream was meant to be the bad guy, he had shown George a sense of kindness and admiration; something that the brunette hadn't had in what felt like a lifetime.
The only time George was ever appreciated from a person was by his parents; his mother if you wanted to be more specific. But that was years ago, and George would've been able to vaguely remember the voice of her of it weren't for the mysterious spirits that showed itself once. Speaking of, George wished that she was here right now, with him. His mother had always been his source of guidance and perseverance. She would always help George whenever he needed it without a second thought, but now that she was gone, the brunette's mind was constantly spiraling into endless tornados. He didn't recognize himself as much anymore and it was safe to say that his life went to complete shit after her death, and there was no one to blame but himself.
George let out a long sigh, rubbing the heels of his palms against his eyes in a tired manner. It was currently near midnight, and like most nights, George found it difficult to fall asleep. He was out looking at the stars, letting himself get lost in thought, reluctantly zoning out. Dream was inside the cave, sleeping as he would usually be doing. The camp fire that was lit a few hours ago was still burning bright, its flames shooting up and bathing the cavern's walls in a beautiful sunset shade.
The brunette inhaled sharply, half formulating a decision in his mind. Warily, George pushed himself up, his eyes heavy with fatigue while his lips were pressed into a thin line. He had made the decision that he would talk to Dream the next morning, and all in all, he could only hope that it would go well.
