CHAPTER 68

SPIRO GRAY

I CLOSED MY EYES as the cold water ran through my hair. Night bath felt so good especially when the whole day was hell and disaster.

I finished taking my night bath. I wrapped the towel around my waist as I stepped out from the shower room. I didn't bother to wear anything and just laid down on my bed.

Nakakapagod ang buong araw ko ngayon pero hindi ako makatulog. As usual, I'm thinking about Phamela.

I heard... she's a good teacher or professor now. Finally, natupad niya na ang gusto niya. I am really, really happy for her. I am proud, too.

I closed my eyes, trying my best to sleep. Pero imbes na dalawin ng antok, iba ang pumasok sa isip ko.

Dalawang taon na mahigit nang umalis si Phamela. Hindi naging madali. Hindi kahit kailan magiging madali samin 'yon ni Skyros, but I can't do anything. Hindi ko ginusto pero wala na akong ibang magagawa.

I did nothing in the first months, but to drink until I passed out. Sinampal lang ako ni Mommy para magising. She told me that my son, Skyros still needs me. Para akong nagising at bumalik sa pag-iisip.

I did my best to be a good father to Skyros. Lahat ng kailangan niya, binibigay ko, ako ang gumagawa lahat para sakanya.

"I don't know. Kung wala lang siyang anak, kahit saang kulungan ipapalagay ko siya. Pero merong Skyros. He's the next successor of our empire. People will use the background of his father in time. Ang apo lang natin ang mahihirapan."

My lips parted. They're talking about me. They want to put me behind brars.

Nilagpasan ko ang kwarto nila at pumasok sa kwarto ko. Walang ibang nasa isip ko kung hindi ang sinabing 'yon nila.

If they really want to put me behind bars, It will be okay. I understand. Walang problema sakin. Pero katulad ng problema nila, si Skyros.

I fell asleep that night thinking about it. When I woke up, a great suggestion came in my mind. I immediately went to my parents.

I saw theme laughing together while drinking their teas.

"Mom, Dad," Agad na nawala ang ngiti nila nang sumulpot ako.

"You need anything?" Dad asked.

Hindi agad ako nakapagsalita. Am I really decided about it? Doing this means not seeing my children.

Well, after everything I've done, I knew I deserve this.

"I heard you talking about putting me behind bars last night." My mom's eyes widened, but she didn't denied.

"And?"

"It's fine with me, Dad. Iniisip ko lang din si Skyros and his future." Dad's eyebrow arched. "But... I have suggestion."

"Ano naman?" Mom asked.

"You can just... threw me somewhere out of this country. Make me stay in one disgusting house with guards, to make sure I'm not going somewhere. I will cut all my connections. I won't use phone or what."
