Chapter 7 : Pretend

(Back to Naomi's POV)

"I'm still mad at you for calling me another man's name Naomi," Marcus scoffed.

I was sitting directly across from him on a date at a local Mexican restaurant in our city. It was now Sunday evening.

"I apologized like twice since it happened Marc."

"Yeah. I'm just sensitive."

"You're just a cancer. It's in your nature," I joked.

"Well you're just cold. That's a Sagittarius thing," he replied.

I giggled and continued looking through the menu to decide what I wanted to eat. The options were limitless.

We'd already ordered a large lime frozen margarita pitcher as our drink but now I needed to pick some kind of food.

"You know I'm not cold with you. I actually be kind of soft with you if you think about it," I said as I continued talking to Marcus.

"When you want to be."

"That sounds about right," I admitted, casually shrugging my shoulders.

"On another note you literally look like a whole goddess right now. Got the long braids, the lashes, the sexy dress. You shining," he complimented me.

I felt my cheeks start to hurt from me smiling so hard as I stared back at him.

He didn't look bad tonight himself at all. He had kept it casual but of course he still looked great. Marcus was your typical black male hottie. His skin glistened in the light and his smile could melt your panties immediately.

"Thank you," I smiled, grabbing his hand from across the table.

"This feels nice. I'm glad we could do this."

"Yeah, me too."

"Hey guys you ready to place a food order yet?," our waiter asked setting down our margarita pitcher in the center of the table.

I ordered 2 grilled shrimp tacos with a side of tortilla chips and queso. Marcus ordered chicken tacos and some kind of burrito.

When the waiter walked away we continued to talk about what we really wanted with one another.

Surprisingly he was all in with wanting to put a title on us but with me starting my new career I didn't want to jump and agree to it just yet.

"I thought you would've been more ready than me to make things official," he said, sipping his margarita.

"I mean I'm definitely only interested in you right now. I just really want to secure everything with this new job."

I thought he would've understood that by now me succeeding in my career was of the upmost importance.

"You sure you only interested in me?," he asked.

His eyes locked onto mine which made me gulp heavily.

"I-I mean, yes."
