Usually I was bad at keeping secrets from people I loved and cared for, but I found myself keeping the biggest secret ever currently, from everyone.
I hadn't even told my best friend.
About a month had gone by since Deion's accident and me finding out about the pregnancy.
I was currently sitting in the office of a planned parenthood clinic waiting to be called back by the doctor.
Lately, I hadn't been able to sleep or keep any food down. My body and nerves were exhausted.
It also wasn't easy constantly having to lie to Deion about why I was always avoiding him or running off to the bathroom.
I knew he would catch on soon enough, which is why I had to get this procedure done and over with.
Sitting there thinking of what had to be done just made me cry, like constantly.
My eyes were always puffy and red now, more than ever.
My phone suddenly started to vibrate repeatedly on my lap.
Quickly taking it out of my purse I swiped over the answer button.
"Hello?," I asked.
"Baby. You okay? I was told you left the office early again today."
Sigh. It was Deion.
"Yes I'm fine love I'm sorry. I just had to stop by my primary doctor really fast to get something for this cold I'm having."
"Naomi. You know you can tell me these things ahead of time, I thought we were a couple as well."
"We are a couple babe I'm sorry. Just not feeling well I've been super tired with this cold I think it's the flu," I replied.
Lying had become so easy to me, I felt disgusted with myself.
I knew I had a good reason for withholding the truth right now, but I still felt guilty.
"Take a few days out of the office, just work from home the rest of the week. I'm going to drop you off some things later on is that okay?," he asked.
"Of course. Thank you babe."
"Naomi?," a petite Hispanic nurse called out.
"I gotta go, I'll talk to you later."
"Okay baby see you later."
I disconnected the call and placed my phone back into my purse.
Quickly walking towards the direction of where the nurse stood I felt my stomach knot up.
With each step it felt like time slowed down more and more, I could hear my heart beating faster by the minute.
Walking through the doorway I followed the nurse down a long hallway to a small comfortable room. It wasn't at all how I pictured it.
