Chapter 14 : Decisions

When we pulled up to Deion's place I realized I was suddenly sobering up. It was probably from my nerves, which was somewhat a good thing.

I didn't like being extremely nervous, but he just made me feel that way.

"You're not worried about your wife coming back home?," I slurred.

Welp, I said I was sobering up but I didn't say I was sober. That explained the blabbing.

"Ex-wife, and no I'm not."

"Sorry," I apologized quickly.

I didn't want to suddenly become another stress factor for him.

"You're fine. Ready to go in?," he asked.

I hesitated and gently bit down on my lower lip before responding, "Yes."

He got out on his side of the car and walked over to open my door.

When he held it open I took a long stare at him and felt mesmerized all over again.

He wasn't dressed up like he normally was, tonight he wore a plain white tee with blue and white gym shorts. Somehow this turned me on even more.

I quickly snapped out of the sudden trance I'd found myself in and stepped out of the car.

As we walked up to his house I looked up admiring how beautiful it was. It was the kind of house you dreamed about or googled when someone asked you about your dream house.

"Karter is home but he's asleep in his room and had a really long day so he shouldn't wake up," Deion told me.

I stopped dead in my tracks. I had forgotten all about his son with Yvonne. I didn't want this kid to wake up and see me and be confused or pissed off.

"Um. So do you think maybe it's not a good idea for me to come in?," I asked.

"You're fine. I know my kid, he's not waking up tonight."

"What if he does?," I asked quickly.

"You'll hide, or you'll get introduced to him as a friend of mine. Whichever one you prefer."

I looked in his eyes as he said that and realized he was dead serious. This man was literally the most straightforward person I'd ever met.

"Oh a friend. Okay, friend," I joked.

He gave me a cold stare that read don't try me.

I mean we were friends, just complicated friends. That's basically what I'd consider it.

When we walked into his home I quickly became even more amazed at the beauty of it. The outside was stunning but the inside was absolutely gorgeous.

The ceilings were so tall that you felt like you were in some sort of a museum.

Beautiful crystal chandeliers hung from the ceilings, they were lit up so it caused the walls to have a beautiful vanilla, rainbow sort of tint to them.
