Chapter 46 : Shock Part 1
"Good morning Naomi, we weren't expecting you to be here today."
I was being somewhat greeted by a few of the event organizers that gathered around the entrance of a fundraiser that was being thrown by the company.
Slightly looking around I seen colors all over the place. Decorators had been hired to make this fundraiser kid-friendly and crayon themed. It was to help fund local charities that assisted children with special needs, this was very important to Deion.
"Wouldn't miss it," I smiled, sipping my iced tea I watched as their eyes immediately dropped to my belly. "Yeah I'm almost there, due in a couple weeks."
At first the thought of everyone knowing I was pregnant by Deion was terrifying, I mean barely anyone had known we were seeing each other. It just didn't affect me as much anymore, I mean this was reality. Shit happens.
"You look amazing honey," one of them replied, "That will be one big baby."
My face flushed with embarrassment, "Two big healthy babies," I scoffed.
Rather than to continue being unintentionally offended I decided I'd walk away and find Deion.
He probably wasn't going to be too happy to see me out and about, especially in this sun. Every piece of my skin felt like it was sweating.
I just had already missed so many major events and changes since becoming pregnant, this was still the company I worked for nonetheless I wanted to support it, and of course Deion.
Kids ran back and forth between the play areas and splash pads, laughing and chasing one another, without a care in the world.
Pausing for a moment I rubbed my stomach and smiled, the sun hitting my face, the warm air sweeping past my hair. Life was feeling good. I was so ready to meet my girls.
"Excuse me for a second. Naomi!," a voice yelled from behind me.
Of course it was Deion.
I smiled as I watched him fight through a crowd of people desperately making his way towards me.
His facial expression was serious, but his eyes twinkled with excitement.
Every single time we made eye contact no matter how far away from one another we might be, it was magical.
"I'm upset you're out in this sun, but happy to see you at the same time," he planted a kiss on my forehead, "You feeling okay? Have you hydrated since you've been out here?"
I softly shook my insulated cup of iced tea, "Yes. This is full of ice."
"Is it water?," he asked, crossing his arms, "Because you need water more than anything in this heat."
"It's tea, so yes technically it's water," I smirked, "Baby I'm fine."
He had been protective of me since we met, I knew it wasn't changing. It just got a little overwhelming.
I could without a doubt say I never had any man care for me this way before. It was still something I was getting used to.
His face was now serious, "We're gonna go find some water," he grabbed my hand and begun to lead me through the crowd.
