Chapter 11 : Let's Face It

The next day when I arrived to work I was told Deion would be taking the rest of the week off due to personal reasons. I knew this already but acted shocked when I was told by some other colleagues.

Nobody at our workplace could find out what had happened with us, nobody.

We had only shared a kiss but it was a very long, intimate kiss. That was more than enough to cause issues where we worked.

When my lunch hour arrived I decided to have my best friend meet me at one of our local hang out spots in the city.

It was time for a little friendship therapy.

Our hangout spot was a local smoothie joint we'd been coming to together for years.

They had some of the finest tasting smoothies and the most refreshing staff members ever. They also had pretty good finger foods so that made things even better.

"So let me get this straight. You sat in this man's driveway where he lives with his wife and kid locking lips with him?," Skye asked shockingly.

I was now sitting across from her at a table picking at my chicken quesadilla.

Since starting my new position I hadn't had much availability outside of work, where I wasn't sleeping that is, but today I knew I had to meet up with her and spill some of this tea.

Luckily my lunch hour was flexible with Deion being out of the office today so if I wanted to take a longer than an hour lunch I could.

"Don't make it sound so evil," I responded, taking a sip of my strawberry banana smoothie.

"Hmm. It is a little bit but you just told me everything about the wife so I'd say you're not really disrupting a happy home."

"That's the thing happy home or not I'm not purposely trying to destroy anything. I don't even know where this attraction to him came from," I whined.

"I mean the man is a walking Hershey bar, the attraction is to be expected," she joked.

I softly landed a punch on her shoulder as I chuckled, "Omg stop it!"

She shrugged her shoulders and continued quietly sipping her smoothie.

The thing about Skye was that I couldn't do any wrong in her eyes.

No, she didn't condone every bad choice I ever made, in fact she often pushed me to make better ones, but she always had my back and I had hers.

That's what a best friend is.

"I'm just saying you know I'm not judging. I just want you to think of the outcome of all of this," she responded.

"That's what I've been thinking of since it happened. I barely slept after I went home last night."

"Have you talked with Marcus?," she asked.

I almost choked on my smoothie. I coughed and quickly cleared my throat.

"Nope. Not since I left his place, I told him I was going to meet you."
