The One and Only part 3 ch 40

The one and only part 3, chapter 40: "
The Falling of a Woman"

At the courthouse, Alexis, Ric, Ned, Alan, AJ, Carly, Michael, and Skye entered as Brenda, the judge, and jury arrived. The judge asked, "Have you reached a verdict?" "Yes, we have," the jury replied. The judge took the paper from them, read it, and returned it. Brenda stood up, and Skye held Carly's hand as the verdict was read. "We find Brenda Barrett guilty of placing the bomb in the hotel that killed Jax Jack. Ms. Barrett, we sentence you to life in prison without the possibility of parole." The jury said, "No," Brenda asked, "Do you have anything to say?" The judge looked at Brenda and said, "Brenda, look at Skye." Brenda yelled, "I'm sorry, it should have been you! Not Jax!" A cop then took her to the cell. "It is finally over," Skye said. "Yes, it is," Carly agreed. "Thank God," Skye added. Carly asked, "Are you okay?" Skye replied, "I will be. The doctor has ordered bed rest." Carly told her, "You do what you have to do. Don't worry about work; just keep your twins safe." Skye nodded, saying, "I will." AJ said, "Skye, let's go home," showing his concern about how close Skye and Carly were becoming.

Alan said, "Alexis, thank you." "You're welcome," Alexis replied. Alan continued, "I'm just glad all of this is over and Skye can find peace somehow." "Yes, she can," Alexis agreed.

As Brenda was on her way to the cell, Skye approached. Brenda pulled out a cop's gun and shot at Skye. Alan, AJ, Monica, Carly, Alexis, Ric, Ned, and Michael rushed out. AJ yelled, "Skye!" Another cop arrived and took Brenda away. "No, Skye stays with us," Alan insisted as he moved toward Skye. "I called an ambulance; it's on the way," AJ said. "Let me look at Skye," Monica offered. "No, Skye," AJ insisted.

In Brenda's cell, Carly visited. She exclaimed, "How dare you shoot a pregnant woman! Do you have a heart at all? How could Jax or Sonny love a woman as cold as you are? Not even Sonny would do the things you've done!" Carly added, "Why do you care if Skye dies? You get everything Jax had!" Brenda yelled, "I'm not as cold as you are," and then she left.
