TWENTY-TWO | HUNT THE FREAK

Eddie thinks he hears a sound outside so he quickly comes from under the tarp and goes to the window, broken bottle in hand.

"Shit." He whispers.

The door opens and he steps back.

"Jesus—"

"Delivery service." Dustin smiles with bags in his hands. Eddie takes a breath of relief.

They put the bags down and Eddie goes through them looking for food. He finds a box of cereal, chocolate milk and stuffs his face.

"Thank you." He sighs.

"So there's good news and bad news." Dustin begins. "Which do you want first?"

"Bad news first. Always." He answers with a mouth full of Honey Combs and chugs his Yoohoo.

"We tapped into the Hawkins PD dispatch and they're definitely looking for you. And they're convinced that you killed Chrissy."

"100% convinced." Max says.

"What's the good news?"

"They haven't released your name yet." Robin says. "But if we found out about you, it won't be long before others do and once that gets out, everyone and their shallow-minded mother are gonna be gunning for you."

Eddie's heart rate speeds up. "Hunt the freak huh?"

"Exactly."

"So all we have to do is find Vecna, kill him and prove your innocence."

"Is that all there is to it Dustin? That's all?"

"Yeah, that's pretty much it."

"I know everything Dustin is saying sounds delusional, but we've been through this before." Robin says. "They have a few times, and I've only done it once. But collectively, I really feel like we've got this."

"We usually rely on this girl with superpowers." Steve says. Eddie immediately looks at Olivia. "Not Olivia, someone else. But she went bye bye and so did her powers."

"So technically we're more in a—"

"Brainstorming phase." Max finishes Robin's sentence.

"There's nothing to worry about." Dustin assures.

"Bullshit." Olivia breaks her silence. "There's always something to worry about."
