TEN | BRING ON THE SUMMER!

"Cowabunga!" Dustin yells as he cannonballs into the pool, causing water to splash everywhere.

"Careful Dustin!" His mother, Claudia says. "You don't want to take all of the water out of the pool!" Dustin emerges from the water.

"I won't Ma!" He yells back as she heads towards the gate.

"Charles don't burn the food!" Kim says.

"You know I'm the Grill Master baby!" He flips his spatula. "Nothing burns on my watch."

"The hot dogs are burning Dad." Olivia says as she walks past with some more drinks to put on the table.

"Oh shit."

All the kids are at Olivia's house for an end of the school year pool party. And it's kind of a mini graduation party for Steve, since he's the first in the group to graduate. And to celebrate that he actually did graduate, since he isn't too book smart.

"This was a really nice idea Liv." Kim says.

She shrugs.

"I just wanted to bring everyone together. And seeing as how we're the only ones with the pool... it only made sense."

Olivia walks over to her boyfriend.

"You okay?" She asks him. "Do you want anything?"

"A beer would be nice." He smirks.

"Not in front of my Dad. You should know better."

"Okay then... I want you." He pulls her onto his lap on the beach chair.

"Billy!" She giggles. "We have company."

"I don't care." He pecks a kiss on her neck. "Everyone should know that by now." He pauses. "Wait. You said we. We have company."

"Well yeah. You spend more time here than at your actual home anyway. And you're part of the family now."

Billy nods.

It feels good to finally be considered part of someone's family. All these years, after his mom left, he felt broken. His dad marrying Susan filled the gaps legally and by association. But it wasn't until he met Olivia, and he hates to admit it, and her meeting her little friends, made a difference.

It feels good to be a part of something.

"I'm gonna change into my bathing suit." Olivia says. "I'll be right back."

"Maybe I should help." Billy smirks.

She lightly hits his chest.

"You can help me out of it later." She smiles. Billy watches her go into the house.

"Hey man, thanks again for this." Steve says.

"Don't thank me. It's all Olivia." Billy says. "But uh, graduating is great. I wish I know how it felt."

Steve chuckles.

"You will soon enough."

Billy gets ready to respond but the back door opens revealing his girlfriend in her bathing suit.

"If you'll excuse me I have the sudden need to change into swimming trunks."

After about an hour in the pool, Olivia takes a moment to relax and watch her friends have a good time at her house.

"I could get used to this." She says cuddled up against her boyfriend, the water swaying with them.

"Get used to what? Being with me?"

"That and all of this." She motions to the little party. "Everyone coming together and having fun."

"This is going to be the best summer of our lives. I can feel it."

Billy kisses her cheek.

"I hope so babe. For your sake."
