"They didn't believe you did they?" Dustin asks when Hopper gets off the phone.
"We'll see."
"We'll see? You can't expect us to sit here while those things are running loose." Mike says.
"We stay here and wait for help." Hopper orders. Olivia lights a cigarette while they all wait.
"Bob was the original founder of Hawkins AV." Mike says. "He petitioned the school and then he had a fundraiser for the equipment." Olivia can't imagine what Joyce is going through. Losing her boyfriend like that... she hopes she never has to experience that. Experience pain like that. "Mr. Clarke learned everything from him. We can't let him die in vain."
"What can we do Mike?" Dustin asks. "The Chief's right. We can't stop those Demo-dogs on our own."
"Demo-dogs?" Max asks.
"Demogorgan dogs... Demo-dogs. It's a compound. It's a play on words—"
"Okay." She cuts him off.
"When it was just Dart, maybe... maybe we could have done something."
"There's an army now." Lucas says.
"His army." Mike says.
"What?" Olivia asks.
"Maybe if we stop him, we can stop his army too." Mike grabs the picture Will drew of the shadow monster. "It got Will that day on the field. The doctor said it infected him like a virus."
"Does this virus connects him to the tunnels?" Max asks.
"To everything: the tunnels, the monsters, the Upside Down. All of it."
"Slow down, slow down." Steve says.
"Wait, so let me get this straight." Olivia begins. "If these..."
"Vines." Mike finishes.
"Ok. If these vines feel pain, then so does Will?"
"Exactly. It's the Hive Mind."
"A collective consciousness." Dustin informs. "A super-organism." Mike points to the shadow monster.
