EIGHT | BEASTS AND BEATDOWNS

The Byers' door opens and Steve steps out, joining Olivia.

"I just needed some air." She says.

"I get it. It's... a lot." Steve sighs. "I don't get why they're so mad at me. I'm trying to keep them safe."

"I know Steve. They're just... kids. They get upset anytime anyone tells them no."

"I just don't want anything to happen to them. Not on my watch."

"Me neither Steve. Me neither."

"So Billy Hargrove? Really?" Steve changes the subject.

"He's not that bad once you get to know him." He scoffs. "Oh please. This is coming from Douchebag Steve."

"Yeah... I'm trying to uh not be a douche anymore."

"You're good with them. The kids."

"They're a good group. I like them." She looks at Steve.

"Well just remember Steve, they were my kids before they were yours."

"Noted."

"You know, I prefer Babysitter Steve over Douchebag Steve any day." A roaring car engine turns into the Byers' driveway.

"Who's that?"

"Shit. Billy. If he sees me out here with you— fuck!"

"Go inside. I got this." Olivia scurries inside.

"Who's outside?" Dustin asks.

"Billy." Olivia says. "Hide." The kids hide behind the couch.

"Am I dreaming or is that you Harrington?" Billy asks when he gets out the car.

"Yeah it's me. Try not to cream your pants." Steve puts his hands on his hips. Billy takes off his jacket and puts it in the car and slams the door.

"What are you doing here, amigo?"

"Right back at you." The two approach each other.

"I'm looking for my step-sister. A little birdie told me she was here."

"Weird. I don't know her."

"Small, redhead, bit of a bitch."

"Dick." Max says.
