IT'D BEEN A DAY SINCE the team had returned from the botched mission aboard the ship that HYDRA had taken over. Which also meant it had been a day since Wanda and Atlas' last argument. And that, was actually a new record. It was probably the longest amount of time that had passed without either of them saying anything to each other.
But it wasn't because they chose to, however. It was just due to the fact that neither had gotten the chance.
You see, ever since the whole catastrophe of a discussion in the conference room between Atlas and Wanda, they hadn't seen each other. Wanda spent the rest of the night with Vision while Atlas stayed in his room, diving straight back into his research on the possible whereabouts of the Tesseract.
Thor had stayed with him for a while and offered to help. He knew that after every argument with Wanda his brother would always be tetchy for a few hours until he had cooled off. But this time, it was more than normal.
Despite Atlas brushing it off and insisting that he was just the usual amount of annoyed, Thor could see right through it. He knew Atlas all to well to be able to believe it. In fact, he was probably the only person in the whole world that really understood him.
Whatever they had argued about back in the conference room, there was clearly something more to it. And after multiple attempts of trying to get it out of him, Atlas finally gave it up.
Once Thor knew the cause behind his mood, he didn't push any further. The death of their mother had always been a tough subject when it came to Atlas. How could it not be? It was for him too.
So instead of pestering him with more questions or bugging him to talk about it, Thor did what any good sibling would do.
He brought him and Atlas some pop tarts and graced him with his presence while Atlas continued to work.
When Atlas decided to stop his work for the night, Thor even managed to convince him to watch TV for a little while. Atlas had always been more of a book person himself, but he had to admit, having Thor show him some of the most absurd shows that humans watched was entertaining.
Although Atlas didn't say it, he did appreciate what Thor was doing for him. It was nice to know that he at least had one sibling who wasn't completely unhinged. A family member that didn't just use him as a soldier. One that genuinely cared about his well-being and actually valued spending time with him.
The two brothers spent the rest of the night simply just enjoying each others company. It was a nice change. But eventually, it had to end.
Thor noticed Atlas drifting in and out of sleep from the corner of his eye, trying to stifle a laugh as his head kept drooping.
