FOUR OR SO HOURS had gone by since Kate and Atlas had left the compound, give or take. And quite clearly they had stayed out longer than they had planned.

While they were out walking Lucky in the park, it randomly occurred to Kate that Atlas knew nothing about earth. Sure, he knew the basics. He'd visited the planet a few times here and there, but it was never exactly for leisure.

So she decided to take him on a small detour. Just a small one... that lasted a few hours.

Kate showed him all the best parts of New York. From the bigger attractions that everyone mainly came here for, all the way down to her favourite diner that was hidden away from the rest of the city.

Atlas had a choice in the matter at first, but once she found out the appalling information that Atlas had never had waffles before. She pretty much dragged him inside.

"Y'know..." Kate began, taking another sip of her hot chocolate. "If this whole Tesseract thing is done by Christmas then I can take you back to Rockefeller Centre."

Atlas looked at her confused. "You already showed me that today."

"But you need to see the tree!" Kate exclaimed.

Atlas chuckled at her enthusiasm. "Do I?"

"Duh. It's so much better at Christmas." She explained. "Plus, I think seeing you ice skating would be hilarious."

"Oh I'd be great at it." Atlas boasted.

"Pshh, no way." Kate scoffed. "You'd probably be holding onto the side the entire time."

"Sure." Atlas chuckled and began to take another swig of his coffee.

"OH MY GOD!" Kate suddenly perked up out of nowhere. Atlas jumped and almost choked on his coffee. "What Christmas movies have you watched?"

"Uh." Atlas coughed. "None?"

"Then it's settled. We need to have a Christmas movie marathon." Kate decided. "We should start with Home Alone, then maybe A Christmas Carol, or..."

[A/N: to any people who had to study 'A Christmas Carol' in GCSE English like i did then i'm so sorry you had to go through that pain]

Atlas couldn't help but smile as he watched Kate, listening to her continue rambling about all the other things that they could do. He actually found it quite adorable that she was planning so far ahead.

Other than Thor, the rest of the team didn't really do stuff like this. Not with him anyway.

But after a few seconds, his smile started to fade as a certain realization hit him.
