Chapter 18

I went straight to my room to freshen up. Balak ko sanang magluto muna para makakain dahil hindi pa ako naghahaponan.

But I decided to freshen up first because of the very hectic day that I had. Marami akong pinuntahan na site to check.

Tirik na tirik ang araw kanina at sobrang init and I couldn't help but sweat kaya kinailangan ko muna maligo dahil sa natuyong pawis.

I let the warm water fall over my body.

I tried to not think of what i've witnessed awhile ago but I just can't stop thinking about it.

I don't understand, why does he have to lie?

Hindi niya kailangan magsinungaling dahil maiintindihan ko naman.

I'm not sure who is he with.

But I trust him. We've been together for almost 8 months but yet he can't even be honest with me.

I decided to drop off that topic because maybe I'm just over acting. I know he has reasons.

I should hold on onto his words.

I went down to the kitchen to cook. It's already 9:30 pm at hindi pa siya nakakauwi.

I opened the fridge to check what is available.

I only learned to cook the basic food mostly ready-to-eat food. I'm no expert on this field, Ionly wanted to learn because Iwant to be a good wife.

I saw a frozen chicken on the freezer and grabbed it. I washed it thoroughly and let it defrost. As I let it defrost I prepared the other ingredients.

I grabbed a ready made batter mix for the chicken and the flour. Hugo is the one who told me that I should mix flour and the batter mix.

Para daw hindi masyadong matapang ang lasa. Aside from the ready-to-eat food I somehow know how to fry raw meats and fish.

After everything is ready I started cooking. I decided to only cook two chicken thighs dahil ako lang din naman ang kakain.

Base on the scenario awhile ago I'm sure kumain na si Hugo.

I was disappointed when I pulled out the fried chicken umitim ang ibabang parte nito. Prito na nga lang hindi ko pa magawa ng maayus. I though I have mastered this already but it turns out I have not.

Pero siguro dahil din siguro na may malalim akong iniisip.

I once again cooked another two but the outcome is the same. Wala pang ilang minuto umiitim ito at sigurado akong hindi pa luto ang loob nito. Hindi ko alam asan ako nagkakamali kaya I watched a video on youtube to perfect it.

That's when I realized that masyado palang malakas ang apoy, I forgot about that part. Hugo is usually the one who adjusted the stove, he is always there when I try to cook.

This time I know I can perfect this third batch.

I was satisfied with the outcome, it came out good.

Pinalakpakan ko ang sarili ko for the job well done. Kahit papano ay nadivert ang atensyon ko dahil sa pagluluto.

I also tried saving the first two batch at pinrito ko ito ulit sa maliit na amoy lamang dahil sunog ang labas nito habang hindi luto ang loob.

After I finished cooking umupo na ako sa lamesa upang simulan na kumain.

I looked at the wall clock to check the time. it's already 10:20 Pm pero wala parin siya.

Akala ko pa on the way home? I smirked at my own thought.

But I then smiled bitterly with that thought, what's so important that kailangan pa nilang magpagabi ng ganto.
