“I felt betrayed when you tried to kill me.” He says as his frown deepens, I see tears in his eyes.
“I know. I am going to do you one last favor; I am going to end your suffering.” She says with a smile, I fight against the magic holding me still.
“Do not kill him, Morrigu.” I say angrily as I watch her, she looks over at me with a smile.
“I am not going to; I am going to do something better.” She says as he touches his hand with the palm of her hand, I feel magic from me feeding into her as she uses it on him, she vanishes and my room appears around us again. I look over at Cu Chulainn and he smiles at me.
“What did she do to you?” I ask him with a frown.
“She took the pain away.” He says with a laugh, I feel his hand on my face and my frown deepens. “She told me to do this, she said you need it.” He says with a grin and I see him leaning towards me and I feel him kissing me. I feel fear rise in me and I freeze in place as he continues kissing me, I feel him push me down to the bed, I push against his chest as I feel tears in my eyes as fear takes over. He lets go of me and sits back up on the bed with a smile at me and vanishes. I feel the fear fade away as I lay on the bed as tears take over, I roll over onto my side as pain shoots through me from the loss of Emnos.
I hate him, I hate him, I hate him.
“No matter how many times you repeat it will not make it true.”
Can I have my mind to myself? I am tired of everyone invading it all the time, I will feel how I want about Emnos and I hate him, I do not love him. He is a monster and he deserves to be dead. I hate him.
“The one thing you should never do, is lie to yourself.”
I sit up on the bed angry, ignoring her. She is annoying, I will never admit anything but hate for him. I get four hundred years of peace because he is dead, that is nothing to be sad about. I stand up and fly out of the balcony, I look through the city below for the poor district, once I see it I dive towards it stopping just in time to change as I hit the ground. I look around at the dark buildings, feeling the humans inside sleeping, I feel someone appear behind me. I turn to see Cu Chulainn, and he grins at me, I frown at him.
“What are you doing here, Morrigan?” He asks me.
“Finding humans who need help.” I say as I cross my arms, and he laughs.
“They are all sleeping, come back in the morning.” He says as he touches me and we vanish my room appearing around me again.
“Why did she think I needed that?” I ask him angrily.
“Because what was done to you, you do not trust anyone at all. You probably do not even realize it yourself, but everyone you see a potential threat.” He says with a frown.
“I do not see the people I trust as potential threats.” I say angrily, he moves towards me quickly and I back away from him fear rising in me.
“Really?” He asks as an eyebrow raises as he smiles at me. “Do you trust me?” He asks me as he watches me.
“You are as bad as Creation.” I say angrily and he laughs, he moves before I can react and he pulls me to him and hugs me.
“I would never hurt you, Morrigan. You can trust me, I promise.” He says as he hugs me tightly, I hug him back as I feel the fear dissolve. “You need to learn to trust again.” He whispers to me; I feel him leading me towards the bed. I push my hands against his chest.
“Let me go.” I say to him angrily, he lets go of me and picks me up and lays me down on the bed and lays down beside me.
“You are a stubborn one.” He says with a laugh as he looks into my eyes.
“I do not trust men in bedrooms.” I say angrily as I sit up on the bed.
“You laid down with me on this bed earlier, what is wrong with doing it now?” He asks me.
“That was before you kissed me.” I say angrily.
“Are you saying you didn’t enjoy it?” He asks me, I turn to glare at him and he grins at me.
“That is not even the point.” I say as I turn away from him, I feel a hand on my shoulder and he pulls me back down to lay back on the bed.
“I have always been told I am great at kissing.” He says with a laugh.
“I would like to deviate from the conversation.” I say as I glare at him, and he grins at me.
“Just because I kiss you doesn’t mean I want to do anything else.” He says with a laugh.
“Good because I do not want to do anything else.” I say with a frown.
“She told me what Emnos did to you, that he said he wouldn’t do it. But he did it anyways.” He says with anger in his eyes.
“I trusted him. You know where that got me.” I say angrily.
“If I try anything you can kill me, it would be no trouble for you.” He says with a laugh.
“I don’t think I could kill you.” I say with a frown.
“Why not?” He asks me as he props himself up on an arm as he looks down at me with a smile.
“You are the only friend I have that I do not have to worry about trying to claim me, and one that is not constantly giving me orders.” I say as I look up into his eyes. “Not to mention you saved me by sacrificing your own freedom.” I say to him.
“Not really, Adam has made no demands of me. He is happy to let me do as I wish.” He says with a laugh.
“You didn’t know that at the time, you saw someone who was protective of me that could give you the power to kill Emnos. You did not know what kind of person he was or if he could be trusted, and you allowed him to claim you just to protect me.” I say with a frown.
“Now that you say it like that, I see your point. All I was focused on was getting rid of the threat to you and I saw a way to do it.” He says with a grin.
“You are strange.” I say with a laugh, I feel an arm wrap around me from the other side of me.
“Am I strange too?” I hear Aiwass whisper in my ear, I see Cu Chulainn grin.
“Aiwass get off the bed.” I say angrily.
“So, I can stay in the room and watch?” He asks with a giggle, I vanish appearing at the end of the bed standing up.
“How about this, you two stay in bed and I will watch.” I say as I glare at them, both of them sit up and frown at me.
“I am not staying in bed with Frenzy.” Cu Chulainn says to me.
“Its only fun if there is a woman in between.” Aiwass says to me, I feel my face heat up as Cu Chulainn starts laughing.
“Leave, Aiwass.” I say angrily, he vanishes and I feel arms wrap around me from behind.
“Say yes to me.” He whispers in my ear.
“No.” I say angrily and he vanishes, Cu Chulainn is still laughing I watch him with a glare. “You are not helping; in fact, you are encouraging him.” I say to him.
“I know, but I was not expecting that to come out his mouth.” Cu Chulainn says through fits of laughter as he falls back on the bed. I cross my arms and wait for him to get back under control again, he looks up at me with a grin and pats the bed. I walk around the side of the bed and lay back down, and turn to look at him.
“Men are despicable.” I say with a frown and he starts laughing again.
“Eventually, you will get used to us.” He says with a grin once he stops laughing again.
“I do not see that happening any time soon.” I say with a small smile.
“You would be amazed at what can happen if you let down your guard.” He says with a smile.
“Humans are going to be coming to you in the morning, do not discount what they say. You will need to find the thing they are talking about and kill it.”
I frown as I hear her speak, Cu Chulainn watches me with a confused look on his face. “What is wrong?” He asks me.
“She is telling me that humans are wanting me to kill something, that they will come to me in the morning.” I say as my frown deepens.
What is it?
“I cannot see the creature; it was made by my other half.”
There is something else like you out there?
“She creates the things that people are scared of. Time did not realize where there is light there must also be darkness. She was created at the same time as me, and she enjoys killing off my creations. She creates to destroy.”
“She said it was made by her other half.” I say to him and I see anger rise in him.
“She is talking about Carnage.” He says quietly.
“Carnage?” I ask him with a frown.
“She is the opposite of Creation in every way, the only thing they have in common is the ability to create things. Carnage enjoys creating creatures that maim, murder, and steal. She enjoys the suffering of every living thing.” Cu Chulainn says quietly. “If this is one of her creatures, do not expect an easy battle. Quite a few times they almost killed Morrigu.” He says angrily.
“So, you are saying I should bring you with me.” I say with an uneasy smile, and he nods.
“I will be coming whether you want me to or not.” He says with a grin, and I laugh. “I wish I could talk to Creation.” He says with a small smile.
“Take him to my stone.”
“She wants to take you to her stone. Once you touch it, she will talk to you in your mind as long as you keep the connection.” I say with a smile and he grins at me as he gets off the bed, he pulls me off and stand me up excitedly and we vanish, the Circle appears around us. He sees the slab and runs over to it and touches it, I walk over and watch his face as he talks to her. They talk until the sun starts to rise, and he removes his hand from the slab as he smiles down at it. “She tell you something you wanted to know?” I ask him with a frown and he nods with a grin on his face.
“I cannot wait for it either.” He says as he takes my hand and we vanish to the throne room, the seneschal runs in out of breath and holds up a hand as he leans against the wall.
“I have been trying to find you, Princess Morrigan.” He says pausing every few words to take a deep breath.
“Send them in seneschal, I already know some of what they need.” I say to him and he smiles at me as he turns and goes out into the hallway. I walk over to the throne and sit down, Cu Chulainn stands beside my throne with his arms crossed. I watch as the three people walk into the room, their clothes old dirty and tattered. They walk hunched over like they are reaching the older stages of life, but their faces are young, I frown as I watch them walk to the platform that the seneschal points at. They kneel before me, and I see fear in their eyes.
“Demigod Morrigan, we have a task that I believe only the divine could accomplish. There has been a creature sneaking into our homes at night stealing our children, we find the bodies a few days later in the forest surrounding our village. We have tried everything to keep the creature out, nothing works. Forgive us, but please save our children.” The man says as he looks up at me with tears in his eyes, begging me with his eyes.
“I will come to your village, and I will kill the creature.” I say to him and I see relief flood through him as tears fall down his face.
“Thank you, Demigod Morrigan. Anything you want from us just ask and we will freely give it if we have it.” He whispers with a smile.
“I will not take anything from you, I think you have lost enough.” I say quietly, he collapses to the floor whispering his thanks. “Seneschal I already know the other matter you need from me, hire ten administrators of your choosing and have them handle it. I will be traveling with these people back to their village.” I say as I watch the man on the floor.
“Yes, Princess Morrigan.” He says quietly and runs from the room.
“Help him up Cu Chulainn.” I say quietly as I stand, he walks over to the man and lifts him up I walk over to him and look down into his eyes as I touch him with magic, I see the damage done to his back from years of hard labor I flood magic into his spine and the two people with him. I watch through my mind as I see the spine slowly straighten and become strong again. Cu Chulainn sets him on the floor and the man looks at me in surprise. “We should leave immediately.” I say with a gentle smile and he nods, I follow the three out of the palace they pick up the tattered bags they brought with them and we start towards the docks on the shore.
I frown as I think about it, I put a hand on the man’s shoulder and he turns to look down at me. “Where is your town?” I ask him.
“It is near Huntsman.” He says quietly, and I smile.
“I can cut down on the time it will take to get there, everyone touch my arms.” I say to them, they look hesitant at first but do as I say, I feel Cu Chulainn’s hand on my shoulder, and we vanish. The large town appears around us; the three men look around in wonder to see the town appear around them. “Now lets go to your town.” I say with a smile and they start leading the way again, we follow them for the rest of the day with their repaired backs I know we have to be making better time than we would have if I had not.
“It was nice what you did for them.” Cu Chulainn says to me with a smile.
“It hurt me to watch them suffer with how their backs were bent like that.” I say quietly.
“Just I hope you realize you do not have the magic to heal the entire world of their physical afflictions.” He says quietly.
“I know that, but the ones I can help, I will.” I say with a sad smile and he laughs.
“I will accept that.” He says with a grin down at me. “Morrigu never really wanted to help humans, she found them irritating at best. She only killed Carnage’s creations because it was Creation’s wish.” He says with a frown.
“I have always wanted to help people with magic, once I saw what it did for me.” I say with a sad smile.
“You should just keep a realistic view of what you are capable of, otherwise you will be disappointed and end up hating yourself for not being able to do more in the end.” He says with a frown.
“I am very aware of what I can and cannot do. This is something I can do.” I say with a smile and he smiles down at me.
“When we get to the village the creature will only come out at night, you should go into crow form and circle the village to watch for movement.” He says to me as I see the village come into view as the sun sets, I nod to him as I watch the villagers pick up in speed at the sight of it. Once we are in town people stream out of their small huts to gather around us, I only see four children amongst all the adults.
“Demigod Morrigan said she will kill the creature.” One of the men says to the rest, I see thankful faces looking up at me with tears in their eyes.
“You should all return to your homes; the sun is setting.” I say to them and they nod as they leave Cu Chulainn and I alone in the small-town center. “How do you want me to warn you of it approaching?” I ask him.
“Dive towards it, I will see you and run to help, your powers should keep you safe until I arrive.” He says with a small smile and I nod as I change forms, I fly up into the sky above the small town. I watch for any movement around the town as the sun disappears, I see small creatures moving in the darkness of the forest but nothing to concern myself with. Until I start to circle the town again, I see a tall creature hunched over in the darkness with arms longer than they should be. I turn towards it and dive straight towards it until I am close enough, I let go of the magic as I summon the swords and I strike the creature in the chest. My blades glance off it catching me off guard as I try to regain balance, the magic warns me and I throw my weight to the side as its arms come crashing down where I had just been standing. I roll across the ground and stand to face the creature, it look down at me with black voids for eyes with sharp teeth sticking out of its mouth around its upper jaw. I feel Cu Chulainn appear at my side, I watch as he circles to my left around the creature, it watches him and I strike at its arm chopping it off. The arm wriggles on the ground closer to me, I step out of its path keeping my eyes on the creature as it screams at me in rage.
The magic sends me a warning and I jump to the right as the remaining arm crashes down just missing me, I see Cu Chulainn move forward and chop the other arm off. Its roar of rage hurts my ears as it screams into the sky, the magic warns me but not quick enough the creature kicks me sending me flying across the ground, pain shoots through my middle from it. I land on the ground and I stand up and run back to the creature as it turns to me and lowers its head to the ground and charges towards me, I move to the side just in time to dig my swords into its side I watch as black ooze runs down my swords. Cu Chulainn pounces on top of the creature and cuts its head off, the body drops and stops dragging me, I pull my swords out of the creature as Cu Chulainn grins at me as he hops off the body.
“You did quite well for the first time fighting one.” He says with a smile.
“Thank you, what the hell is that thing?” I ask him as I look down at it in disgust.
“Bodach, it loves eating children. They always leave pieces behind though.” He says quietly as he glares down at the body.
“Well, the remaining children are safe, now.” I say with a smile at him, he nods as he looks over at me with a small smile. “We should go let the villagers know.” I say to him as I let my swords vanish, his sword vanishes and he offers his arm to me with a grin, I laugh as I take his arm, he leads me back to the village. I knock on one of the doors, an old man opens it and looks up at me.
“The creature is dead; we are returning to the palace. Let everyone know in the morning.” I say quietly with a smile and he nods.
“Thank you so much, Demigod Morrigan.” He whispers.
“It is no problem, if anything else like that shows up let me know.” I say quietly and he nods, we vanish and my room appears around us again.
“Not going to stick around for the applause and thanks?” He asks me with a frown.
“No, there is no point. I know they are grateful; I do not feel the need to be the center of attention.” I say with a smile as I lay back down on the bed.
“You are strange.” He says with a laugh as he lays down on the bed beside me looking down at me.
“I am just happy to help, that is enough for me.” I say with a laugh.
“Are you okay? I saw that thing kick you.” He says as concern comes over his face.
“Yes, I am fine. It is a little sore but nothing to worry about.” I say with a smile.
“Good, they can break bones even in Gods.” He says with a small smile as his eyes roam my face.
“How many different types of creatures are there?” I ask him.
“Quite a bit, it is hard to keep up with them all.” He says with a frown.
“Cu Chulainn, you are giving me that look again.” I say with a frown.
“Which one?” He asks with a grin.
“The one that you give me when you want to kiss me, no more kisses.” I say as my frown deepens.
“I cannot even have just one more?” He asks me with a grin as he laughs.
“No, it is not allowed.” I say with a laugh.
“You are no fun; I enjoyed the kiss.” He says with a smile.
“Then replay the memory in your head every time you want one.” I say with a laugh and he grins.
“I prefer replaying the memory of you walking out of the room wearing Theros’ outfit.” He says with a laugh.
“You need to erase that one.” I say with a laugh.
“No, I am keeping that one forever.” He says with a grin. “Actually, I have an even better memory, I almost forgot it.” He says as his grins widens.
“What would that be?” I ask him with a frown.
“When I walked into my room to see a naked woman in my wardrobe.” He says with a laugh. “I had to remind myself of how angry I was to keep from just enjoying the show, until you put my shirt on.” He says with a laugh.
“I had forgotten about that, you were scary.” I say with a laugh. “Though I did think you were nuts when you ran outside the castle chasing me while I flew through the air.” I say as I laugh harder and he laughs.
“I was determined to catch you.” He says with a grin as he leans closer to me.
“Well, you finally did.” I say with a smile, I see him lean closer to me I feel no fear as he kisses me, I grab his shoulders pulling him closer as we kiss each other. He pulls away his hazel eyes glowing.
“I am sorry, you said no more kisses.” He says with a frown.
“I enjoyed that one.” I say with a smile as I watch him, and he grins at me. “But I am not comfortable letting it go any further, Cu Chulainn.” I say quietly as I look away from him.
“That is fine, eventually you will find me irresistible.” He says with a smile as he pulls my face to look at him again and I laugh.
“Think highly of ourselves, don’t we?” I ask as I laugh harder, and he laughs.
“Of course, have you paid attention to how good looking I am? I am surprised you have lasted this long.” He says with a grin and I laugh harder. “I am fine with not going further; I will not make you do anything you do not want to.” He says quietly with a smile.
“Thank you, Cu Chulainn.” I say as I smile at him.
“Does this mean I get another kiss?” He asks with a smile as he raises an eyebrow.
“I guess you can.” I say with a laugh, he leans down to me and kisses me deeply, as he pulls me closer to him. I enjoy the feeling of his lips on mine, the feeling of his chest against mine, the feeling of his hand on my back holding me tightly against him. I feel no fear as he kisses me and holds me close to him, I feel happy as he kisses me. He finally lets me go with a grin.
“How do you like that?” He asks me with a small laugh.
“I love it.” I say with a smile as I look up at him.
“Glad you are enjoying yourself.”
Could I not even have one moment of privacy from you?
“Since the link between us is active all times, no.”
You need to get rid of it.
“Why?”
Because if I finally do let this go any further, I want to with the knowledge that only him and I are aware of what is going on.
I frown as I wait for a response, Cu Chulainn frowns at me in confusion. “Our nosy Creation was commenting.” I say with a laugh.
“She was just wanting to tell you how wonderful I am.” He says with a grin, and I laugh harder.
“You really love talking about how wonderful you are, don’t you?” I ask him with a grin and he nods.
“You know I am wonderful, just admit it.” He says as he winks at me.
“Fine I will admit it just this once, you truly are wonderful.” I say to him and his grin widens.
“Once is enough for me.” He says as he smiles down at me.
“What did you and Creation talk about?” I ask him remembering how happy he was after the conversation.
“I promised not to say a word, but it is something that will make me happier than I can explain. I am sorry, Morrigan.” He says with a small smile.
“It is fine, I know how secretive she can be.” I say as I cup his cheek in my hand, I feel someone appear in the room and I feel annoyed at the disturbance.
“Morrigan, I need to talk to you privately.” Vhaanth says to me, I look over at him to see a mix of emotions in his eyes, I frown at him.
“I will go to the roof, Morrigan.” Cu Chulainn says with a small smile and vanishes, I sit up on the bed and watch Vhaanth.
“What is it?” I ask him.
“You have probably never heard of these creatures before, Morrigu beat them a long time ago ridding the world of them. Fomorians are going to return to the world again, Creation just told me she told me not to tell you.” Vhaanth says quietly. “But the only one who had any chance of killing them the last time they appeared was Morrigu. I think you have the right to know.” Vhaanth says with anger in his eyes.
“What exactly are these things?” I ask him quietly.
“They are monstrous beasts of all kinds, they come from Carnage. They have several leaders that lead them to our world, I do not know if the leaders are alive since Morrigu killed them last time.” He says with a frown.
“Morrigu was a Goddess with all of her power, I am just a demigod. How can I be expected to fight this and win?” I ask him with a frown.
“Not sure, Creation is not sharing.” He says angrily as his eyes glow. “She did tell me you see Myrddin again in ten years, you will stop him from killing humans. Do not ask me why he would want to, she has not said.” Vhaanth says as he looks down at the floor.
“Did she say when the Fomorians are coming?” I ask him and he shakes his head.
“She just said they would be coming.” He says angrily.
“Well hopefully I find a way of getting stronger before then.” I say with an uneasy smile as he looks up at me again.
“I think talking to Cu Chulainn could help considerably.” He says with a grin. “I noticed you two are quite comfortable with each other.” He says with a giggle, I pick up a pillow and throw it at him he vanishes before it hits him. I get off the bed and vanish to the roof where Cu Chulainn is sitting, I walk over and sit beside him.
“What did the old man want to talk about?” He asks me with a smile.
“Fomorians.” I say quietly and I watch the smile dissolve off his face into fear.
“Please do not tell me they are coming back.” He says quietly as he looks away from me.
“They are, Vhaanth broke his word with Creation and told me.” I say quietly.
“Well, it should be fine since.” He starts to say but stops with a frown on his face.
“Since what?” I ask him.
“I cannot say, but it could be helpful if the Fomorians are coming.” He says with a small smile.
“How well did Morrigu handle them?” I ask him.
“It was just her and I against them, she swept across the battlefield raining death on the horde that appeared, all the leaders fell one right after the next. She let all her rage out onto that battlefield and the only things that survived were her and I.” He says with a smile as he thinks of it.
“I also found out I get to see Myrddin in ten years.” I say with a smile as I think of him, Cu Chulainn smiles as he watches me.
“I cannot wait to meet this boy, that makes you smile that way.” He says with a laugh.
“What is so special about this smile?” I ask with a frown.
“The only time I have ever seen it is when a mother looks at their child.” He says with a grin.
“I do see him as my child, he is quite special.” I say with a laugh.
Cu Chulainn and I spend the next ten years managing the kingdom and hunting any creatures that appear, we enjoy the time we spend together everyday. Eventually the pain from Emnos dying fades away and I forget about him, Adam never makes any requests of Cu Chulainn especially after he sees how happy I am with him around.
“Time to go, Morrigan. Time is of the essence in this, you will meet a dangerous storm of fury and pain. Make sure Cu Chulainn stays out of the way on this one, only you will be able to reach him where he is.”
Yes, Creation.
“Cu Chulainn, no matter what happens out there stay back.” I say as I look up at him with a serious look on my face, he nods with a frown. “It may seem like I am in danger, but I am not, I promise.” I say with a smile, he gives me an uneasy smile as he offers his arm to me, I take it and we vanish to the spot Creation showed me before. On the horizon I see lightning permanently etched into the sky coming towards us, I watch as a man walks towards us. I let go of Cu Chulainn and I walk towards the man, I know to be Myrddin and the cause of the lightning in the sky. As I get closer the wind swirling around him threatens to knock me off my feet but I still walk towards him, I see his blue eyes glowing as tears fall down his face.
“Myrddin!” I yell at him and lightning strikes beside me, I walk forward another step as he continues walking towards me. “Myrddin it is me, Morrigan!” I yell at him, he stops walking and looks at me with a frown. “Can I come closer?” I yell at him over the wind, I start walking towards him as I feel the wind die down a little, when I finally make it over to him he looks down at me in pain. “Myrddin, you need to calm down. Remember do not let your emotions control your magic.” I say to him, I see more tears fall down his face and he falls to knees in front of me. I kneel down in front of him on my knees and I grab him and hug him, I feel the storm of magic around us die immediately. I hear Cu Chulainn run up beside us, he kneels down beside me watching us.
“I am sorry, Morrigan.” Myrddin whispers to me through his tears.
“It is okay, Myrddin. I am here for you.” I whisper to him as I rub his back to comfort him.
“They killed her, they did horrifying things to her and then killed her.” He whispers as the pain rises in his voice.
“Killing them will not erase what they did or bring her back.” I whisper to him as I feel him hug me tighter. “Ready to leave?” I ask him and he nods against my chest, I feel Cu Chulainn’s on my shoulder and we vanish. My room appearing around us, I pull Myrddin up off the floor and lead him to the bed. He lays down on the bed and I lay down beside him wrapping an arm around him, Cu Chulainn smiles at me and vanishes.
“Good job, Morrigan.”
Thank you, I hate seeing him in this pain.
“It is the first of many times, Morrigan.”
I lay on the bed comforting Myrddin for two days, he finally sits up on the bed wiping the tears from his face. I touch him and we vanish to the roof where Cu Chulainn sits, I bring him over and I sit beside Cu Chulainn and Myrddin sits down beside me and wraps an arm around me pulling me close to him. “Thank you, Morrigan. You stopped me from doing bad things.” He says quietly.
“It was just an excuse to get to see you.” I say as I smile up at him and he laughs.
“Good excuse.” He says with a grin. “Who is this?” He asks as he smiles over at Cu Chulainn.
“Her lover.” He says with a wink and I laugh.
“Seeing as we have not done with lovers do can you really call yourself that?” I ask him with a grin.
“We kiss, that is enough for me until you finally give it to my good looks and charm.” He says with a grin, Myrddin and I laugh.
“I am glad you found someone, Morrigan. What about Emnos?” He asks with a frown.
“I killed him.” Cu Chulainn says with a devious grin, Myrddin laughs.
“I already like you more.” Myrddin says with a smile.
“He will be back in three hundred and ninety years.” Cu Chulainn says with a frown.
“You can just kill him again, if he tries to come after her.” Myrddin says with a smile.
“True, and I will gladly kill him millions of times, if that is what it takes.” Cu Chulainn says with a smile.
“Are you a God?” Myrddin asks him.
“No, I am a demigod like her. I have a God though, he claimed me so I could kill Emnos. He is happy to let me do whatever I want, because it makes Morrigan happy.” Cu Chulainn says with a smile.
“Too bad you are not a God, then you could just claim her to keep her safe.” Myrddin says to him.
“I could not do that to her, she is one that requires total freedom, I could never take it from her even if it means protecting her.” Cu Chulainn says with a laugh.
“Tell Myrddin he will be running your kingdom.”
Now?
“Now.”
“Myrddin, the palace we are on top of was my home when I was a human. I was a princess when I was a human, I think I am going to be gone for some time and I need someone here to take care it. I would like for you to take over.” I say as I lean back away from him and look into his eyes.
“It would be my honor, Morrigan. Where are you going?” He says with a smile.
“I am not sure.” I say with a frown.
“You are going into another deep sleep.”
Why?
“It is needed for what you are going to do.”
But Cu Chulainn.
“He will happily wait for you; he may even go into a deep sleep himself.”
“I am going into a deep sleep.” I say quietly as I look up at Cu Chulainn.
“That is fine, Morrigan. I shall wait by you until you wake up.” He says with a smile.
“You will be sleeping on my slab in the Circle.”
“She says I will be sleeping on the slab in the Circle, which means I will not wake up until Emnos is back.” I say with a frown.
“I want you to come as soon as you let the people in the castle know, Myrddin is taking over.”
I touch Cu Chulainn and Myrddin, we vanish and appear in the throne room where the seneschal is waiting. “I abdicate the throne to Myrddin, until my return.” I say quietly to the seneschal and he frowns at me.
“Why, Princess Morrigan?” He asks me.
“I have to go into a deep sleep, I will be gone for hundreds of years. This kingdom needs a ruler who is present and can help.” I say with a sad smile.
“Morrigan, may I make a request of you before you leave?” The seneschal asks me with a sad smile.
“What is it?” I ask him.
“May I hug you? You are the best ruler this kingdom has ever had.” He asks with a smile.
“Of course, you can.” I say with a laugh and I hug him as he hugs me.
“I have enjoyed these past ten years; I know the next seneschal you meet shall be happy to see you.” He says as he lets go of me.
“Please enjoy the rest of your life, seneschal. Myrddin is a good person, so he will be just as great to work with.” I say with a smile at him and he grins at me, I turn to Myrddin with a smile. “Do as he says, he is perfect at his job.” I say with a laugh and Myrddin nods with a smile, I hug him tightly. “It is not fair, I just get you back to be taken away from you again.” I say quietly.
“I will be here when you wake up, I promise.” Myrddin says as he hugs me tightly, I back away from him and take Cu Chulainn’s hand.
“I love you, Myrddin.” I say with a smile.
“I love you too Morrigan. You are still my mother.” He says with a grin and we vanish, the Circle appears around us.
“I love you, Morrigan.” Cu Chulainn says with a smile at me. “I will wait here for you.” He says to me.
“I love you too, Cu Chulainn. I cannot wait to see you again.” I say with a smile at him, I let go of his hand and walk to the slab, I lay down on it as I feel the vines wrapping around me to cocoon me, I see Cu Chulainn over me before my view is blocked out by vines. I close my eyes and I fall into a deep sleep.
I open my eyes and I sit up quickly; I look around for him but he is not here. I get off the slab as the vines fall off me, I take a closer look around me to see he is not here, I feel pain shoot through me, I already know what has happened, I feel tears fall down my face.
This is not fair! Why? He is the only thing I wanted to wake up to!
“I am sorry, Morrigan. He fought Emnos again when he came here, Emnos killed him.”
When is he coming back?
“Two hundred years.”
Pain shoots through me as I fall to my knees, why could she not have let me sleep another two hundred years? I feel tears stream down my face as I think of Cu Chulainn’s smile, his touch, his kiss, his voice. It seems like only yesterday I saw him and told him I love him, now I have to wait for him and hope he remembers me.
“There is a way to fix that problem.”
What is it? I will do whatever it is.
“Go to Vhaanth, tell him to take you where sleeping giants lie. Take the sword and imbue it in the new God Arthur, he is with Myrddin. Be warned though, Myrddin will hate you thinking you were trying to hurt Arthur.”
