Halley's pov
It's been about a week since then and the boys made me disconnect my phone from the wall because of my fathers pestering. My lip is better and the boys and I are closer if possible. More protective than ever. I'm walking down the hall at school alone because the boys are elsewhere. "Halley" a voice says. I turn and see James...Emerson's best friend. I go to just walk away "not so fast" he snaps grabbing my wrist tightly "you're hurting me" I say wincing as his fingernails dig into my flesh "good. Now I want you to do somethin for me okay? Stop fucking lying and tell the truth about emerson. You're just jealous he moved on and never loved you! Release him and drop the charges...now" backing me into a wall and I flinch as he strokes my cheek "he did say I could have his sloppy seconds..."

I tell him looking around the empty hall for help "let me go" "I don't think so Halley. You need to be a good bitch and do as you're told" he snaps. Choking me now I cough the air leaving my lungs immediately...this is different from what I've had before. That was fun but this...this isn't.

I claw at his hand and says "tell me you'll do it." "Hey!" A voice says but I can't tell from my now blurry vision. He's knocked away from me and I fall to the floor hitting my head and everything goes black.

Billys pov
The three of us agreed to meet in the library. She's been helping eddie with class so he can graduate this year. She's 10 minutes late...she's never late. Ever. She's either on time or early. Never late. I have a bad feeling again. I tell Eddie "I'll find her stay here in case she shows!" And run out before he can reply. I search frantically for her the bad feeling like the one I had at the party suffocating me and making my ears ring. I run to another hallway seeing her being choked by James...Emerson's friend. She's almost passed out and choking and I don't know what he says but I say "hey!" Anger in my voice and I tackle him and note that she falls but my rage makes it impossible for me to care right about now. I just beat the shit out of the guy. Bashing his face repeatedly with my fist them soaked in blood. A crowd makes it around me and teachers do too. Hopper comes weirdly enough and pulls me off of him as I whisper to the asshole "you and your shit head friends come near her again and I'll slit your fuckin throats!" Hopper says "Billy calm down and tell me what the fuck is going on here why was I called here?" I ignore him my eyes on her now. She's not moving.

I kneel and take her into my lap stroking her face gently "baby? Baby wake up" I tell her. She doesn't fuckin move! I shake her now softly "sweetheart wake up I'm here and you're safe now. Open your eyes Halley" I grit my teeth as she stays still "Halley wake up" I check her pulse thump thump thump

I sigh in relief. I say "hopper she's not waking up!" Scared for her. He asks "what made you snap?" "He was choking and threatening her I had to do something" I tell him and he asks "for how long?" "I-I don't know!" I tell him afraid. He calls for an ambulance on his walkie and demands it now. He checks her head...blood. Her head is bleeding. Shit. I ask "how bad?" Trying to see and he stops me "she's probably got a concussion. It's not a lot of blood but it's a bit so who knows what else"
I should've never left her. I should've found her sooner. Maybe I am the fucked up failure neil thinks I am. Maybe this and the party are why I shouldn't have someone in my life to care for? This is the second time she's gotten hurt when I was supposed to be with her. Maybe it's best I leave her be before I fuck up again and she gets hurt because of it.

But I care too much to leave. I've never been selfish before with anything. I've never thought anything or anyone to be worth it. But she is. I say "Eddie...someone has to tell Eddie. He's in the library. Eddie munson" a deputy goes and I take off my shirt and ball it and put it on her head to stop the slight bleeding. Footsteps and I hear Eddie ask "the hell is going on?! What happened?" I explain it to him and he stands and snaps "I'm gonna fucking kill them all" I have her in my arms and I say "hopper her lips are pale" "she's not getting oxygen Billy start giving it to her!" He says and I nod and open her mouth and breathe into it her lips that are soft and well treated are now colder and chapped. I check her pulse again "it's still strong" I'm a swimmer, I used to surf I know a bit about this sort of thing. I was even a lifeguard for a bit before the move.

"That's a good thing. Keep giving her air" he says and I do and a paramedic comes and Eddie, hopper and I follow and I say "her name is Halley Harrington she's 17. She hit her head and was choked and didn't have air...I don't know for how long." They nod and Eddie and I grasp a hand each. Hopper says "Jason Terrence was arrested. He'll be facing charges as well. Cmon kid don't quit on us" care in his eyes. What if hopper can take her? He cares about her deeply I can tell. Her shithead dad isn't back yet but I'd hate to see what he does when he is when she hasn't answered the calls and hasn't dropped the calls. She doesn't deserve it. Hopper lost a kid right? What if Halley can fill that void for him? I kiss her hand "cmon baby fight this. You're strong and I'm here and not going to let anyone hurt you again okay? Ever again"
