I ask "is this okay? Do you think it's too much? Too little? Should I wear" Billy stops me grabbing my hands "you look perfect. Okay? We should go before we're late" Eddie looks at his watch. Both of them dressed up believe it or not. Just a button up and nice pants but still. Eddie says "hales you're going to crush it and those assholes are gonna get what they deserve" I nod and we head to billys car Steve following in ours.
We meet with Richard my lawyer and he preps me a little bit more. I'm sat next to him when I see them. I freeze. Memories of both my attacks flowing in my mind. "Hey" a voice whispers. It's Billy. "Breathe comet. You don't even have to look at em if it gets you scared. Just breathe and when you go up there look at me or Eddie. You got this" I nod and we're told to rise.
I'm called by their lawyers first. I swear on the Bible to tell the truth. Not that I believe in it anyway. I pause seeing my parents walk in. The lawyer asks "how did you meet my client?" "In school. He came and talked to me and eventually we started dating" I reply. He nods "how was your relationship?" "I didn't want to see it at the time but he was controlling. He wouldn't let me see my friends. Get angry when I'd have projects or something." I retell.
"Why didn't you want to see it ms harrington?" He asks. I reply "I thought I was in love. I was young." He says "my clients say you're dating Edward munson and William Hargrove." "I am" I confirm. "What happened that made you fall out of love with my client after only 6 months was it?" He questions me. "He cheated on me. Not only that but he took nude photos of me and after our break up he posted them everywhere" I tell him.
"How did that make you feel? Thirst for revenge?" He insinuates. I shake my head "I was depressed. Betrayed. I didn't leave my house for weeks. The only reason I went back to school is because chief hopper said I had to avoid legal troubles" "but you're in legal troubles now are you not?" He asks. I shake my head "no. Your client is. I'm just here to tell my story and see him and his friend put behind bars for what they've done" I hear them scoff and I look over just for them to smirk my way and lick their lips. I look away and to Billy and he motions for me to breathe. I do and he asks "what brought you to the party?" "Billy asked me to go and for once I said I would" I answer.
"And you saw your ex with another woman and caused a scene." He tells me and I shake my head "no. I was on a date with Billy and had a good time. I didn't see emerson until I went to get another drink and he talked to me. I don't care about him and his new girlfriend" "and you think he drugged you?" He asks and I say "I know he did. I wasn't drunk. I only had a cup before hand and I was pouring it and looked away to get ice as we talked and then when I started drinking was when I started to have side effects"
He nods "that's all" I nod and my lawyer says "let's bring up chief Jim hopper. You can step down now ms harrington" I nod and step down and sit and Eddie mutters "you're going good" I nod and watch my lawyer ask "how do you know my client?" "She's a good kid. We got close over the years. She just...saw something in me and stuck to me" he replies and I chuckle knowing that he's right. "How did you become aware of the situation?" "When he posted those photos I was called to shut it down but the damage had been done. She was distraught so she asked to just shut it down but he didn't let that happen"
