sandy arrived on the warner brothers lot just before 8.

when she parked her car in designated lot, she knew it must've been the lot assigned to all the actors as cates silver porsche and sarah's signature audi were already there.

there were no names on any of the spots other than for the director, giving sandy no further insight as to who her five additional co-stars might be.

she stopped at a desk upon first entering the studio office building where she picked up her security clearance badge.

she then made her way down the winding halls to the room designated for the table read.

as she walked the halls and passed posters from other movies, including clooneys obnoxious face on the original oceans 11 poster, sandy was overwhelmed by a sense of gratitude for her life.

she may have been in her career for a number of years, but the fact that she was living the life of her idols that she imagined growing up never ceased to amaze her.

she finally found a room with a sign on the door that read "oceans eight: table read, dir. gary ross."

she took a deep breath before pushing the door open to the large room.

there was a large oak table in the center of the room, with name plaques set in front of each chair.

along the far wall there was a table set up with snacks and drinks.

the first person who noticed sandy was, of course, cate.

she had been speaking enthusiastically to gary, but politely broke away from the conversation upon sandys entrance.

sandy knew cate was about to do something dumb by the mischievous glint in her eye, the same look she swore dylan has.

cate greeted sandy with an air kiss to both cheeks, "sandy, darling, how are you it's been ages."

sandy had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep from laughing out loud, stepping backwards slightly to create some distance between her and her secret girlfriend.

she decided to play along, "cate my dear it's been forever."

before they could continue, they were interrupted by sarah, who had broken away from a conversation with a young asian woman who sandy thought looked vaguely familiar.

"what the fuck is this?" sarah interrupted, quite literally inserting herself into the conversation and in between the two women as she pushed cate away to give sandy a hug.

for a brief moment sandy was worried that the brief interaction had given them away, and that sarah knew about their relationship.

her worries disappeared when sarah continued speaking.

"you know you two aren't allowed to hang out without me!"

sarah had introduced the two women, the history between them that followed unbeknownst to her.

sandy had met sarah at a broadway show in new york.

it was after her pregnancy and her breakthrough role, sandy was 22 and quickly becoming a household name.

sarah was freshly 18 and a new breakout TV star, and was attending the show of her future wife holland taylor, although they wouldn't become an item until a few years later.

they both had backstage access and were avoiding paparazzi as they exited through the back doors, and ended up sharing a car.

they decided to grab a drink at sarahs hotel bar, and shared a laugh over the fact that despite having more money than she knew what to do with and being nicknamed the "first lady of television," sarah still needed a fake id.
