When Steve ran out I couldn't catch up to him and I knew I ruined everything. The next morning I was getting ready to go on a run just around, I needed to clear my head and find a way to talk to Steve, he needed to know why I lied and what the plan was. I got out and went running, as I was running in the park close to my apartment before the sun was even up I heard feet coming up fast behind me and I instantly got guarded until I heard him speak.
"On your left." Steve said and passed me quickly.
"Fucking super solider." I said and kept my normal pace, I decided to take a few laps around the lake that was there. As I continued to run in my own little world I heard it again.
"On your left..."
"Yeah on my left, got it." I called after him. Soon after same thing one more time. "Don't you say it Rogers!" I yelled as he approached.
"On your left." He said and ran past me. I groaned and just continued on my own pace. I finished my run I sat down and was leaning against a tree.
"You need a medic?" I heard Steve ask as he came walking up to me and I huffed a laugh.
"No, I'm good, you good? I mean you just got back and your already running like that?" I asked and Steve huffed a laugh and sat next to me. "Can we talk about it?" I asked and Steve groaned.
"You lied to me." Steve said and I sighed.
"I had to."
"Why? You wanted to fool the old man?" Steve asked and I rolled my eyes.
"No Steve, that was never the point. I wanted to tell you in the car that day but Fury thought it wouldn't be smart for you to see my name as Carter and feeling overwhelmed."
"I wasn't given the chance to even see. I felt a calming sense with you before I even knew who you were, that was the Peggy in you. You are so much like it her it's scary." Steve said and I gave a small smile.
"Everyone says that. I strive to be like her." I said and Steve sighed standing up.
"Well as of right now you are nothing like her, she never would have lied to me." Steve said and walked away. I groaned thinking we were getting somewhere but we took 2 steps back. I got up and headed to my apartment. I wanted to go spend some time with Peggy before I had to go into the office.

"Oh! I meant to tell you he might be stopping by today." Peggy said after spending about an hour with her and I groaned.
"Grandma please understand he won't want to see me or be happy to see me. I lied to him, I went along with S.H.I.E.L.D. and their stupid plan. He proved that this morning when I saw him on my run and he called me a liar." I said and Peggy laughed.
"He will forgive you. I will make him." Peggy said and I giggled.
"Steve Rogers still wrapped around your finger." I said. "I have to go have some meetings with the nurse and doctor for a few minutes. You be okay while I'm gone?" I continued and she nodded. I kissed her cheek and walked out of the room.
***PEGGY POV***
I was sure how long Summer had been gone or would be gone when I saw him walk in the room.
"Captain Rogers...just the person I was needing to see." I said and Steve looked at me.
"Peggy, you know to call me Steve." He said as he sat down.
"I know but when you are in trouble handler Peggy comes out."
"What did I do now?" Steve asked.
"Calling Summer a liar Steve...that's not fair." I said.
"Well, what do you want me to say?" Steve asked.
"You think she wanted to?" I asked.
"She didn't say otherwise." Steve argued.
"You didn't give a chance, you ran off." I argued back.
"Well, that's all well and good but honestly I blame her for all of this too." Steve said. I looked at him and shook my head.
"How can you blame Summer, Steve? She was doing what Fury told her to do. You can't blame her." I said and Steve sighed.
"I just want to be angry at someone Peggy." Steve said.
"Then be mad at yourself. You chose to dive into the water! You took the plane down! You made that choice! Not Summer who hadn't even been thought of when you did so!" I said going off on Steve. He just sighed and looked at me.
"I know, I know." Steve said and just groaned.
"So, are they taking good care of you here? Do I need to talk to anyone?" Steve asked changing the subject and I laughed.
"I'm being well taken care of. I have a guardian angel who makes sure I am." I said and Steve nodded.
"Guardian angel named Summer I'm guessing." Steve asked and I smiled.
"She is all I have here." I said. We were silent for a few minutes and then Summer walked back in the room.
"Rogers." Summer said seeing him.
"Carter." He said. I rolled my eyes knowing they needed to grow up.
"Both of you need to act your ages." I said and Summer sighed.
"Listen, I got everything taken care of here so I'm going to go. I have a meeting with Fury later." Summer said walking over to me and kissing my cheek.
"Oh, figuring out how to lie to more people?" Steve asked and Summer sighed and turned to look at Steve.
"You may not be happy with what I did, and I feel horrible for doing so but the sooner you can get over it the better off we will be." Summer said and walked out of the room.
"She has a point you know." I said and Steve just sighed looking at his hands folded in his lap.
