I got back to my apartment that night with Steve and he hadn't talked to me since he heard about Bucky being spotted.
"You can't seriously be mad at me for not saying anything to you?! Hell, when I heard about it I didn't even know you were back! I had his files to file away. As I was doing it I heard about the sighting and forgot the files on my desk." I explained and Steve just sighed, dropping his head.
"I know. I'm sorry. I hear Bucky and it's all I can focus on." Steve said and I just walked up to where he was still standing. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he smiled wrapping his arms around my waist.
"Is there anything I could do to keep your mind off of Bucky and maybe to the girlfriend you flew halfway around the world to see..." I said and he smiled leaning down to passionately kiss me. He picked me up and walked me to the couch and I smiled as he sat down with me straddling him. As his lips started to move down my neck I slightly pulled back.
"Sum...?" Steve asked.
"I need to know something..." I trailed off.
"What's wrong?" Steve said taking a hand and moving it to my cheek seeing the worry.
"When you were undercover with Nat...did you two ever..." I trailed off and Steve huffed a laugh and shook his head.
"No, Nat and I may have played a married couple, but we were in separate room on opposite ends of the house and when we were alone, I talked about you." Steve said and I smiled at him,
"Really?" I asked and he nodded. He ran his fingers through my hair.
"You were all I wanted Summer. I know before I left there were some issues and you found out somethings, but you are all I want. I know what came out about Peggy and if you want, we can talk but right now I'm thinking about so much more." Steve said and bucked his hips and I laughed but threw my head back as well at the feeling.
"Steve..." I moaned. I leaned down as my lips connected to Steve. As Steve and I sat and made out for a few minutes. As Steve started to unbutton my top my cellphone rang, and I groaned.
"Director Carter..." I answered and Steve kept kissing my neck.
"It's Fury." I heard. I pushed Steve off my neck. I stayed on his lap.
"Fury, are you dying? Is someone dying?" I asked.
"Uh no..."
"Then why are you calling?! I'm finally getting time with Steve." I said and he sighed.
"Which is why I'm calling. Steve turned his phone off. I need to talk to him." Fury said and I groaned. I got off Steve's lap and handed him my phone.
"I'm going to start dinner, talk to Fury." I said and Steve sighed and took the phone call. I didn't hear any of their conversation, but Steve brought my phone to me.
"He wants to talk to you now." Steve said and I groaned.
"What?" I asked.
"Come on Summer don't act like this." Nick said and I groaned.
"What do you want from me Fury?" I asked and he sighed.
"Listen I am bringing Rogers back to DC -..."
But..." I said.
"Listen before you protest, please. I'm putting you in charge of a task force and I need you to go to Vienna." Fury said. I looked at Steve.
"I'll be right back." I said and he nodded. I walked into my bedroom and shut the door. "What task force are you talking about?" I asked.
"Recover Sergeant James Barnes."
"Oh, you have got to be kidding." I said.
"I'm not, we want him in a cell for now at the compound. I have all the info on him that you are missing. Like where he is staying in Vienna. You, Director Carter are head of this task force, I will send you Sam and Wanda to help capture him." Fury said and I groaned.
"I'm not Director Carter..."
"You are with taking this job. Director Carter of Internal Affairs. You will be stationed here in DC once this is all over." Fury explained. I just sat on the foot of the bed.
"Steve isn't going to like me going to Vienna and getting Bucky without him." I said.
"That's why he won't know. You tell him you are wrapping things up in England and you will be home in a few days. He will be here waiting." Fury said and I groaned rubbing my forehead.
"If this cost me Steve because you are having me lie to him again..." I trailed off.
"I'll fix it this time." Fury said.
"Fine. When does Steve leave?" I asked.
"Tonight, and you leave tomorrow. Sam and Wanda will meet you at the safe house in Vienna." Fury said and I groaned.
"Fine. Send me all the info I need, and I will go over it tonight." I said.
"Got it. Go say goodbye to Steve." Fury said and hung up. I groaned and placed my head in my hands. Here I was lying to Steve again. This relationship has been based on so many lies lately I didn't know how we were ever going to work. I got up from the edge of the bed and walked out to the living room and saw Steve leaning on the back of the couch. I walked up to him and placed my forehead on his chest wrapping my arms around him and he wrapped me in his arms kissing the top of my head then resting his cheek on it.
"So, you have to stay for a couple of days?" Steve asked. I lifted my head to look at him.
"Yeah, finishing up some stuff here and then I will be home. Fury gave me a new job title when I get back." I said and Steve just looked at me confused.
"Director Carter, Director of Internal Affairs." I said and Steve smiled.
"Look at you." Steve said and I moaned as he leaned down and kissed me.
"I'm going crazy Steve. I need to be with you." I said and he nodded.
"I know. When you get back, we will spend time together, alone, no cellphones, no interruptions. Only us." Steve said and I smiled with a nod.
"Sounds perfect." I said as he leaned down and kissed me again passionately. Steve lifted me up and held me to him, I wrapped my legs around his waist and his phone went off. I groaned.
"My car's here." Steve said and put my on the floor.
"I will walk you out." I said and Steve nodded. He grabbed my hand and we walked to the door, and he grabbed his bag.
"I love you, Summer." Steve said and I just looked at him. We hadn't been here yet, we hadn't been together in theory that long.
"You do?" I asked and smiled, and he nodded.
"I do. I love you and I will see you when you get home." Steve said and I smiled.
"I love you." I said and Steve smiled. He leaned in down and passionately kissed me.
"See you soon." Steve said and walked out of the apartment. I closed the door and fell against.
"I just told this man I loved him and I'm lying to him. Good job Summer." I said to myself and then pushed off the door to go pack.
