A few days after going out dancing with Steve I was back at work at the compound, and he was on a mission. As I was standing in the filing room, I felt someone walked up behind me and place their hands on my hips. I smiled since I knew who it was.
"Captain, you are not being work appropriate right now..." I said and he groaned in my ear as he rested his chin on my shoulder.
"No one can see us..." Steve said and I laughed.
"Doesn't matter, we are still at work." I said and Steve laughed. I was looking at a few files I knew Fury wanted.
"Do you have plans tonight?" Steve asked and I sighed.
"Well, I didn't think my boyfriend would be back already from his mission, so I made plans with my other boyfriend..." I said and Steve sighed.
"Sweetie, if you have time for another boyfriend, I'm going to make Nick work you more." Steve said and we both laughed.
"No, actually I do have plans though." I said and he looked at me as I closed the filing cabinet and turned in Steve's grip.
"What are your plans?" Steve asked.
"Bowling night with my parents." I said and he looked at me oddly.
"This a common thing?" Steve asked and I laughed.
"Once a month. We try to get together." I said and he smiled.
"Are boyfriends invited?" Steve asked and I smiled.
"I could always ask if you could come. I don't see why it would be a problem." I said as we left the room and started to head towards Nick's office.
"Do they even know about us?" Steve asked.
"They know I'm seeing someone." I said and he nodded.
"You just didn't say who." Steve said as we got on the elevator.
"Summer Carter." I said since it was voice activated. I then hit the floor for Nick's office. "And no, I didn't tell them. I mean they know I'm seeing someone they just don't know it's you." I said and he half nodded. He looked upset and I sighed. "What?!" I asked.
"It's just everyone I know; knows we are together." Steve said and I sighed.
"Steve, everyone you know, I know. So of course, they know." I said and he groaned.
"Just let me know if I can come tonight. I will pick you up." Steve said and got off the elevator before me when the doors opened. I sighed as I walked off and went to Nick's office. I knocked as I walked in and he nodded at me since he was on the phone, and I set the files down. I went to walk away, and he held up his hand to stop me. I waited and he sighed once we got off the phone.
"You see Rogers?" He asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, why?" I asked and he sighed.
"Well, I want to talk to you about his next mission." Nick said and I sighed.
"He just got back." I said and Nick sighed.
"I know, I'm sorry but this won't just be any mission..." Nick said and I looked at him confused.
"Nick, what is going on?" I asked.
"Rogers and Romanoff have to go undercover, deep undercover." Nick said.
"For how long?" I asked,
"Until the job is done. They will be portraying a married couple." Nick said. I just half nodded and looked at the floor.
"When are you telling them?" I asked as I heard the door open, and they both walked in.
"Right now." Nick said and I nodded. I went to walk out and kept my eyes down. Steve grabbed my hand and made me stop.
"Hey, I'm sorry about earlier. I shouldn't have gotten mad." Steve said and I gave a small smile. I pulled him to me and gave him a small kiss.
"It's fine. Go have your meeting with Nick and then we can talk tonight." I said and he nodded. I walked out of the office feeling my heart tighten in my chest. It was never the fact of Steve going undercover with Romanoff, it was the fact of Steve leaving for only god knew how long and we were just getting started.

I was sitting on my couch in blue jeans and a T-shirt waiting for Steve to knock. My parents told me to bring him, and I just sighed. As he knocked, I got up and answered the door. Steve was looking at the ground and I sighed.
"Do you know?" Steve asked and I nodded.
"Nick told me when I was in his office." I said and Steve sighed.
"I can turn him down." Steve said and I shook my head.
"Can we just talk about this tonight after bowling?" I asked and he nodded.
"Yeah, you ready?" Steve asked and I nodded. We headed down and got in the car he brought, and we headed to the bowling alley. Steve held my hand the entire time, but we were silent. This was not going to be a good night; I could just tell.
Once we arrived, we walked in, grabbed shoes and bowling balls then I found my parents and smiled.
"Hey!" I said walking up to them and they smiled.
"Hey baby girl." My dad said and hugged me and then I hugged my mom.
"Mom, Dad, this is Steve, my boyfriend." I said and they just looked at him.
"Captain." My dad said and I sighed, and mom just smiled.
I felt it and I knew Steve did too, very icy.
"Hey, you want to go get us some drinks?" I asked Steve and he nodded. He gave me a small kiss and walked away.
"Excuse me?! What the hell?" I asked.
"You're actually dating him? That's the boyfriend?" Bryce, my father said.
"Yeah, that's who I'm dating. Steve and I are together." I said.
"Come on Sum, why?" Jess, my mom asked.
"What's so wrong with Steve?!" I asked annoyed.
"It's Captain America! The man your great grandmother took care of, the man who refused to let you be his handler when you dedicated your time to him. The man who picked Sharon over you!" Bryce said and I groaned.
"With all due respect sir, yes Peggy was my handler, and she was one of the best. I may have pushed Summer away when I first came out of the ice and that was my mistake. I had a lot to deal with at that time. Also, I did not pick Sharon to be my handler over Summer that was Nick Fury's doing. I didn't even want a handler and I don't have one now. I really like Summer and I just want to make her happy. She is everything to me." Steve said walking up. He didn't leave to get drinks like I thought, he just stayed out of sight. I smiled at him as he put his arm around my waist.
"So, this is what you really want? You want to be with a man who isn't from this time, who will always measure you up to Peggy, they woman he wanted and could never have?" Jess asked.
"I never wanted Peggy, Peggy was a great friend, that was it." Steve said.
"Yeah sure. So, you kissing her before you went to get on that plane meant nothing?" Bryce asked. I looked at Steve oddly.
"You kissed Peggy?" I asked and he sighed.
"I did...it was a spur of the moment thing..." Steve said.
"And making plans to have a date with her before the plane went down? Yeah, I heard stories too." Bryce said and I stepped away from Steve.
"Why didn't you or her tell me any of this? She wanted us together...oh god. Did she want us together before so it would be like you having her all over again?" I asked and Steve groaned.
"No, not at all! Come on Summer, don't fall for this." Steve said.
"Is it true? Did you kiss Peggy? Did you ask her out?" I asked and he just looked at the ground. "Wow." I said and grabbed my purse. "I have to go." I said and went to leave, and Steve grabbed my hand.
"Summer!" Steve said and I shook my head.
"Can I have a ride?" I asked my parents, and they nodded as we all walked out.
