"...I'll wait for your forgiveness. I'll work for it. Even if it takes years. Even if takes all my life. I'll wait. And I'll keep trying because I know, now that you are the best thing that could ever happen to me and I'm too selfish to let that go. I'm sorry Jungkook. I'm so sorry"

Jungkook ignored the thumping of his heart as Taehyung's soft voice filtered through the room, his apologies making him feel ever so weak.

He doesn't know what to feel. What to think.

How can he just trust the man who kept hurting him again and again, never stopping to think what his actions were doing to him?

He doesn't want to trust Taehyung's words.

Words were just words. When spoken with hate, those words cut. But when spoken with promise, they mean nothing.

Because to keep a promise, one must work for it. Must show it through their actions.

And right now, Taehyung's words were just empty promises that pierced Jungkook's heart.

No. He won't trust him.

He won't allow his heart to hope for a better life, a future with Taehyung. He just simply won't.

Hope had gotten him nowhere in the past, except to a path of pain.

He won't allow his heart to hope, to open up, to dream.

This time, he just simply won't.

Maybe Taehyung is telling the truth. Maybe he has finally realized his mistakes.

Or maybe, its all just a ruse. A facade to keep Jungkook with him so that the bond doesn't break.

Or maybe it's simply hopeless. Hopeless to even hope that things would get better, because for Taehyung to fix everything, there needs to be something  left there to fix which was broken.

What does Taehyung aim to fix anyway?

Jungkook's trust?

Jungkook's heart?

Their mate bond?

Or perhaps their marriage?

Trust when broken, cannot be fixed so easily. It takes time, lots of time. It takes actions and sincerity, something that Taehyung didn't have.

Heart. A broken heart. That would be difficult. Trust can be fixed with time but wounds of the heart still remain. The words that broke that heart still remain, engraved in the walls, always visible, always taunting. So how does one fix a broken heart?

Their mate bond. Something that never existed in the first place. Sure, they are fated mates. But did they ever share a bond? Whatever remnants of the broken bond that Taehyung hopes to fix was solely there because Jungkook held onto it. So how can Taehyung hope to fix the mate bond when he never built one himself? How can he fix something that was never there in the first place?
