9. Friends do breakup

We stopped at a cafe near our university to grab our dinner before going home. Yes, our dinner because he insisted to take me home since I also insisted not to call anyone, especially Ice.

He unbuckled his seatbelt and I was about to when he speak up "wait, hold on" he hopped out then watching him walking around and opening my door.

I cleared my throat after stepping out "thank you" he warmly smiled and sure, I'm feeling cold but my cheeks felt hot.

We walked inside the cafe, Jaden proceeded to the counter while I look around for vacant table but unfortunately locking gaze with Ice.

They're sitting to the right corner window table.

Shit. She might misunderstood us.

I'm the first one breaking our eye contact and pretends that I never see her but Anderson calls me out "Summer!"

And now I'm obliged to acknowledge them.

"Hi Anderson" I approached to their busy table with their iPads, thick books and coffees are all over the table.

"Where have you been Summer? You're so busy these weeks"

I wasn't, in fact, I have a lot of vacant time.

"I guess" I say back.

And there's Mateo walking in my direction while looking hesitant "Summer can we talk?"

"What for?" Jaden appearing to my side, he glanced at me before switching back to Mateo who look terrified staring back to Jaden.

"I just wanna say sorry" Mateo says to me and caught him glancing at Ice "sorry Summer, I was out of my mind that time"

"No, it's okay. That's what alcohol does" I assuringly say.

He nodded then immediately turned around and walking out of the store.

He's kinda weird, I guess smart people are becoming weird due to their high IQ. But what about Ice? Her smart brain cells make her swag.

"Don't mind him, he's weird" Anderson stated then gestured to the empty chair "Hey it's fully booked so why don't you join us instead?" He offered.

But already seeing Ice changing her expression.

"She's too loud and we need to focus" Ice coldly stated.

Of course I smiled, I had to even it stings.

"It's cool. We can eat it at your place" Jaden chiming in "why don't you wait me inside the car and I'll just have it for takeout"

Jaden walked back to the counter, calling the barista attention.

And there's Anderson looking a little bit confused but shrug it off then Ice is in usual cold demeanor. She's just too focused on her iPad.

I shake off this sadness because clearly, Ice don't care. She didn't even know that I'm sick. I thought I have my person in here but seems like, I only have to fend for myself.

"Are you okay Summer? Are you feeling hot? Your forehead was sweating in beads" Anderson mentioned.

"Yeah...uhm...we gotta go, see you around" I say to Anderson then check Ice not even minding at all.

I'm still sick but also I'm a student.

"Summer! Summy!" A familiar car stopped next to me, Ice car "Where is your car?" Carlisle asking "it is raining and of all the weather you decided to commute during rainy days?"

I hate raining. I hate driving during rainy days because moist is giving me a hard time.

"Get in!" Carlisle gesturing but I'm actually waiting for Ice to say it....but she didn't.

So I smiled "It's okay, go on. I'm okay"

"What? No! Get inside Summer" Margot also telling me from the backseat as she peek her head out from the window.

Honestly, I'm super tempted, especially that my headache worsened. I feel so much cold than earlier. I'm even surprised that I made it to school even when I woke up super groggy.

Carlisle look over her shoulder and telling Ice "can you tell Summer to get in?"

Ice eyes stayed focused on front "she's not a kid" she dryly respond "besides, she's already wet"

Every letter of her words pinched like a dinosaur and I really hate it to see and hear her as if we didn't know each other for 8 years.

"—-yeah, she's right" I say back nonchalantly but tears were already building in the corner of my eyes.

"You're so damn cold" I was taken aback when Carlisle get off the car then slammed closed the door "let's go Summer" Carlisle pulling me with her.
