You grinned and raised your hand in a wave. This turned out well.

"Here it is," Wanda said, pointing to a door. "Mine's next to you and Natasha's is across." You nodded, memorizing those little facts.

"We can give you a proper tour tomorrow since it's getting rather late," Natasha spoke up.

You nodded, hesitantly reaching for the doorknob. Getting over yourself, you opened the door and stepped in. It wasn't huge but it was rather big and had everything you needed. It also seemed as if a walk-in closet and a bathroom were attached to your room, making them your own. "Make yourself at home," Natasha said as you looked around.

"We can walk with you to breakfast tomorrow morning," Wanda offered.

"That would be nice," you nodded, turning back to them with a smile. "I'm pretty sure I would get lost on my own."

They chuckled. "Good night."

"Good night," you answered and closed the door. After making sure it was closed properly, you cast another look around the room, observing thoroughly this time. It had a high ceiling, huge windows, a bookshelf, currently empty, a desk, an enormous bed, a nightstand, the doors to the bathroom and the walk-in closet. Above the doors was a ledge with ceiling windows, which you could approach by a ladder. The ledge was empty, too.

You just stood there for a good minute, gaping. You had a pretty good reason to do so - from the outside, the Compound looked like a huge rectangular box and you never expected anything like this. But then again, this place belonged to the Avengers. What would it be if not an over-the-top kind of place.

Shaking it off, you dropped all your stuff in front of the foot of the bed, deciding you'd unpack the next day, and looked out of your window at the sunset for a minute. It was really pretty and made your heart swell with happiness and peace. If only it would last forever...

It didn't - the Sun dropped behind the horizon soon enough and you drew the curtains in front of the window before changing and crawling into bed. You didn't expect to sleep too much but it wouldn't hurt to try.

The next morning, you didn't dare open your eyes, afraid all of it had been a dream. You were proved wrong and happiness swelled in you once again. Since it was really early, you just laid there and pondered over the situation for a while. You figured that you felt so nice here because they didn't judge you or weren't afraid of you due to your powers. It must've been the first time in your life when you felt that welcomed... Well, you felt pretty welcomed in most places but that was because you hid your powers so it wasn't exactly the same.

When that was settled, you decided to get out of bed and get ready for the day before starting to unpack the things you had. You didn't have a lot - after all, all your clothes fit in a single sports bag and all your stuff, ranging from your laptop to your tiny first-aid kit, fit into your backpack. It wasn't much but you treasured every single one of the items and placed them exactly where they seemed to belong.

By the time you had finished setting everything up, it must've been half past eight in the morning already and when you checked the clock on the wall, it turned out you had misguessed by only a few minutes.

You were reaching for one of your two rubik's cubes when, oh so conveniently, there was a knock on the door. "One second!" you called before scrambling off the bed and to the door, somehow managing to trip over your feet in the process.

"Good morning," Wanda greeted as she and Natasha were the ones behind the door. "We're heading to breakfast now, is that okay?"

"Yep, I'll come with you," you responded quickly, coming out of the room as swiftly as possible so as to not make them wait any longer. When you started walking, you felt the need to spike up a conversation. "How'd you guys sleep?" you asked, rather randomly.
