The gun was never taken away as you were sat down and strapped onto a chair and then finally given something you couldn't get a good look at to bite on.
You didn't understand what was going on, only the fact that it was bad and your heart was beating way faster than it ever had before.
That's when the screams - your screams - began, echoing through the halls of the underground base that could only be accessed through water.

"You have to be faster, Wave," your sparring partner hissed, looking down at you once again since you were on your back on the floor, "else you'll never get on a mission."
You grunted as you got up.
A mission. Something that you had heard so much about, something you would go on when you were deemed ready enough.
You longed to go on a mission despite the fact that a little part inside you still wanted to resist HYDRA's tasks. But what else could you do, HYDRA was all you ever had known, though you didn't know how long you had been there since every day was kind of squashed together with the last because of the fact that you had the same routine every day: wake up, eat, train, eat, experiment with your powers, eat, go to sleep.
That's also the reason a mission sounded so nice - you would get to go out of these bright halls where artificial lights and cameras were absolutely everywhere. You wanted to experience the warmth and light of the Sun, you had wanted that ever since you first heard about it from a group of agents that were talking when they passed your room.
You had later been introduced to them and it turns out they were your age. Their names were Nathan, Caleb and Emma and they were to be your team on your missions once you got to go on them.
Then Nathan talked himself into being your sparring partner and was now the closest thing you had to a friend.
"Focus," he hissed as you barely dodged a hit, "you want to go on a mission, right?"
"Of course," you answered, grunting again as you tried to kick his feet from under him.
"Then do better."
