Stopover and arrival

We've already been on the road for almost two hours when James pulls into the parking lot of a supermarket.

Bucky: I hope it's ok if we stop. We should buy a few things, otherwise we won't have anything to eat or drink in the cabin.

Of course that's okay. James doesn't know this yet, but when I'm hungry I get obnoxious. Also, it just occurs to me that when I was packing, I only packed clothes. No beauty products. No shower gel, no hair shampoo, no toothbrush, absolutely nothing. How could I forget that?

Victoria: Yes we can. It suits me quite well to be honest. No idea why, but somehow I only packed clothes when packing. Otherwise i packed absolutely nothing.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit it. Smiling, we both get out of the car, get a shopping cart and go inside. While Bucky looks for groceries, I go to the drug store and stock up on everything you could possibly need. In addition to the usual hygiene products, I also take make-up with me. Who knows what awaits me in the coming days.

Bucky: Found everything you need?

I didn't even notice James appearing behind me.

Victoria: Yep

I turn to him and stare at him in shock as I see how full the cart is. I thought we were only staying for a few days?

Victoria: Are you sure we've got enough groceries for a few days?

I ask teasingly, pointing to all the stuff. James just shrugs.

Bucky: I'd rather buy too much now than not having enough there.

He's right about that. At the checkout, Bucky almost insists on being allowed to pay for my stuff as well. No way. If I wasn't so forgetful I wouldn't have had to buy the stuff, I would have taken it from home. In the end we agree that he pays for the groceries and I pay for my beauty stuff. Even if you can see that he is not completely satisfied with it. I think he still doesn't quite believe me that I'll be fine financially even without a job. Back at the car, Bucky puts everything in the trunk while I take the shopping cart back to the collection point. Back on the road, I can't wait to get there. I suddenly feel like a little kid with bumblebees up his butt.

Victoria: How long until we get there?

It is now almost 9 p.m. It's already getting dark outside.

Bucky: We'll still be on the road for about two hours.

By the time we get there, it's definitely too late and too dark to explore the area. Then James has to show me everything tomorrow.

Victoria: Then we have to postpone the detailed tour of the area until tomorrow.

In fact, it is pitch dark when we turn into a small wooded area at around 11 p.m. Any normal person would probably think I'm crazy for going on a spur-of-the-moment trip with a stranger I never told anyone about and now we're in the middle of nowhere. Actually a very unreasonable move. But when I look over at James, I remember why I agreed. I just feel safe with him. I have no doubt that he will never harm me. And when the lights of a motion detector suddenly go on in front of us, I can hardly believe what I see in front of me. Admittedly, I was expecting a small, horror-movie-like cabin. With a cabin that hardly offers enough space for one person. But what I see infront of me almost rivals my home in town. A wooden cabin with large window fronts is in front of us in the forest. Behind the hut you can see the lake that James talked about. The water glitters in the glow of the lanterns that have been lit by our arrival. We get out. James unloads our luggage while I admire the cabin.

Bucky: Is the cabin what you expected?

James sounds expectant.

Victoria: Not really. I had expected a small cabin like those seen in horror movies.

James lets out a hearty laugh.

Bucky: I prefer something more comfortable and luxurious.

He rummages in his pocket and holds out a key to me.

Bucky: Go in and look around. I'll be right behind you with the groceries and your bag.

He doesn't have to tell me twice. I take the key and go inside. When I turn on the light, it takes my breath away again. Everything inside is made of wood, too. From the front door you come into a small entrance area with a cloakroom before you go further and into the living room. A comfortable looking dark brown sofa stands in the center of the room. A flat screen TV hangs on the wall opposite the sofa, and a fireplace is embedded in the wall to the left. The wall opposite the fireplace is made entirely of glass. Filled bookshelves here and there add to the cozy touch. From the living room a hallway leads to the rear of the house which leads to a large kitchen on the left. On the right are two closed doors. We'll see what's behind it in a moment. But first I have to see this marvel of a kitchen. When you enter the room, the opposite wall is again completely made of glass. Only this time it's a sliding door. I assume this takes you to a porch overlooking the lake. But now it's too dark to really see it anyway. To my left are all sorts of closets. I've never seen so much worktop space in a kitchen. A large kitchen island offers additional space. The sink and stove are integrated into this kitchen island. A large refrigerator and a highly modern coffee machine complete the whole thing. To my right is a dining table with four chairs. Curious as I am, I decide to see what's behind the closed doors. Behind the first door I discover a bathroom. Nothing too extravagant. But admittedly, the fact that there is a shower and a bathtub impresses me. Behind the other door is the bedroom. The woody design continues here as well. A bed, big enough for me to fit in five times, is standing against a wall. To the left of it is a large window, although not as large as the one in the living room. To the right of it, the whole wall consists of a wardrobe that is embedded in the wall and opposite the bed there is another television hanging on the wall. Wow, just wow. I really didn't expect that. The cabin is stunning. There's just one thing I need to discuss with James. There is only one bed. Even though the bed is definitely big enough for the two of us, I'm not sure if I'm willing to share the bed with him? Not that that might send the wrong signals. I don't want him to think I'm easy to get. When I come out of the bedroom, James is already in the kitchen putting away the groceries.

Bucky: What do you say? Better than any horror movie shack right?

Victoria: Much better. I only see one problem......there is only one bed.

James turns to me and gives me that bright smile again.

Bucky: That's no problem. I'll sleep on the couch.

Victoria: Are you sure? I can also sleep on the couch. I don't want to throw you out of your own bed.

Bucky: Yes I'm sure.

As if on command I have to yawn. Although I was just so excited, I'm suddenly dead tired.

Bucky: You can go to bed. I'll just put the groceries away and then I'll lie down too.

Victoria: Ok.... good night James.

I smile at him, grab my bag and beauty supplies and head into the bedroom. There I take everything I need to get ready for bed and go to the bathroom. In my black sleep shorts and matching tank top, I step back out into the hallway and look back at James. Somehow this all feels totally unreal. Unreal but beautiful. I go into the bedroom and snuggle into bed. The bedding is so damn soft and fluffy. A short time later there is a knock at the door.

Victoria: Come in.

Bucky: Sorry, I just have to grab something from my closet.

Of course he has to. I could have figured that out myself. He takes some clothes out of the closet and turns to me.

Bucky: Do you have everything you need?

Victoria: Yes thanks, I have everything I need.

Bucky: Ok...... um...... good night then.

Victoria: Good night James.

One last smile before he leaves the room and closes the door behind him. As tired as I am, it doesn't take long for me to fall asleep.
