The next morning, James and I are having breakfast with Peter. Even though I'm 100 percent sure about my decision, I'm still nervous. Even though I think it's very unlikely, I'm kind of afraid that Peter might object to James moving in with us. Nervous, I look over at James who just gives me a reassuring smile. Ok Vicky, take a deep breath and then you ask him. The longer you wait, the crazier you'll make yourself.
Victoria: Peter, James and I need to talk to you.
As soon as I finished, Peter looked up and beamed with joy.
Peter: You're pregnant, aren't you?
What? Why does he think that?
Victoria: No. What's wrong with you?
Peter: What? It wouldn't be impossible. And a little nephew or niece would be super cool.
I didn't know that Peter still wanted to be an uncle. After all, he already asked me if I was pregnant when I had to tell him that I had lost my job. It's definitely too early for now, I mean I'd love to live the life I want for James and i for now. But in the future I can imagine being a mother. I am pleased to know that Peter would really be happy to have a nephew or niece. But before this topic can ever become a reality, I should first talk to James about it. After all, he's the only man I can imagine ever having a family with.
Victoria: Peter, not every time I want to talk to you it's about a potential pregnancy.
Peter: Could have been.
Victoria: If it ever comes to that, you'll be the first to know.
Bucky: Um....I'd say he may be the second to know if it ever comes to that.
Victoria: Yeah? And who do you think should be the first to know about it?
I tease and grin at him mischievously. Of course, Peter wouldn't be the very first. But he would be the first of our friends and family to know about it. Seemingly uninvolved, James stirs his coffee.
Bucky: Me of course. The father should always be the first to know.
Victoria: And who says you're going to be the father?
Now he doesn't act quite so uninvolved. He pulls me onto his lap, puts his arms around me and looks at me. His gaze is so loving that the butterflies in my stomach are immediately in turmoil again.
Bucky: I have no doubt that that will be the case.
I would never want it any other way. I tilt my head down and place my lips on his. It's a chaste, almost shy kiss. God I love this man so much.
Peter: And I'm crazy because I think it's possible that she's pregnant.
I hear Peter mumbling. Admittedly, this thought is probably not really that far-fetched. James and I break the kiss and grin at each other before turning back to Peter, i'm still sitting on James' lap.
Peter: Ok, when you two are done kissing, can you tell me what you want to talk to me about?
Victoria: Sure..... sorry.
I take a quick sip of coffee before I tell Peter what I'm up to.
Victoria: I've been thinking and I'd like to move back into our house.
Peter: Why?
Victoria: Well, the house has been empty for months and it's still our home. Also, I kind of miss it.
Peter: Ok.
Even though I wouldn't know my brother that well, it's clear that he doesn't like the idea that much. In the last few months he has felt so comfortable here that it almost seems as if this is his only home now. Somehow the thought hurts me, but somehow I can understand him.
Victoria: Peter, that doesn't mean that anything has to change for you.
Peter: Really?
Victoria: Yes. I mean, before we moved here, you lived here for the most part on the weekends. And as long as Tony and the others don't mind, and you promise me the school won't suffer, you're welcome to stay here.
Peter: But then you would be all alone.
Victoria: Not necessarily.
Peter: I don't understand.
Ok Vicky, now it's time.
Victoria: I would like James to move in with us.
Bucky: Assuming you're okay with that.
Peter: Why shouldn't that be okay with me?
Victoria: Well...... I mean, you've taken everything really well so far, but my boyfriend moving in with us is still a big step.
Peter: If I'm here at the weekend, I already live with him anyway. Of course I don't mind. On the contrary, I am pleased that you two are taking the next step.
Bucky: Thank you Peter.
James wraps his arms around me even tighter and rests his chin on my shoulder. Even without him saying it, I can feel that he too is totally relieved at Peter's reaction.
Peter: And when do you want to move out?
Victoria: Sometime in the next few weeks. But first James has to be properly healed.
Peter: Ok, I'll definitely help you move. And even if I don't move back, I'll still keep my room, right?
Victoria: Of course. We need to talk about that in detail. Because even if I'm okay with you continuing to live here, I want to see you at least three times a week.
Peter: At least.
It's nice to see that my brother still wants me in his life, even though I'm actually giving him the opportunity to live his own life here with the Avengers. I think having him with us three times a week is a good arrangement. Although Peter knows that he is always welcome and that I will still miss him somehow.
