Let's test him

When I wake up the next morning, James is coming out of the bathroom. He's wearing his workout clothes and looks like he's about to leave the room.

Victoria: Good morning baby.

Bucky: Good morning, doll. Sorry, did I wake you up?

Victoria: No, you didn't. Where are you going?

Bucky: I'm meeting the boys at the gym to train. I thought you would sleep longer and I would be back by the time you woke up. It's okay that I'm going, right? Otherwise I can cancel and we can spend the morning together.

Victoria: Can't I just come with you?

Bucky: Doll, I don't think you're in any condition for physical training.

Like I've ever really trained in our gym before. Except for the one time I went there to vent, when James was being so unreasonable about his physical condition, I've never been there. But I've seen so little of James in the last few days that even watching him train is fine with me.

Victoria: I don't want to train myself. I want to watch you and the others.

Bucky: You just want to watch?

Victoria: Yes. Baby, I've seen so little of you in the last few days and if I have to spend another day just here in this room, I'll die of boredom or go crazy.

Bucky: Okay, but I have conditions for taking you to the gym.

Victoria: Which would be?

He comes to the bed and sits down.

Bucky: I can carry you there, you really just sit there and watch us and as soon as I'm done we'll have breakfast together.

Victoria: I think I can handle that.

Bucky: Well then, let's go. The boys are definitely waiting.

I pull the blanket aside and climb onto James' back before he gets up. Just like in the last few days, I slept in one of my sweatpants and one of James T-Shirts, which I actually wear during the day as well. These things are just way too comfortable to wear anything else right now. He carries me piggyback into the gym, where the others are actually waiting for us. James sets me down on one of the benches against the wall so I can lean against it while I watch. Before he joins the others, he kisses me quickly.

Tony: I didn't know we were allowed to bring our personal cheerleaders. Not that you're too distracted, Barnes.

Bucky: Even when I'm distracted, I can still take on you.

He comes back to me and kisses me again, a little more deeply this time.

Victoria: Besides, you're just jealous because Pepper isn't here to watch you.

Peter: That could be true.

Tony: Really Parker? And I was hoping to have at least one Parker on my side.

Peter: Sorry Mr. Stark, but she's my sister. Plus she can be really scary if I don't agree with her.

Victoria: Not true at all. I'm not scary and it's totally OK if you disagree with me.

Bucky: Well, he's not entirely wrong, Doll. But we still love you.

He kisses me one last time before he really turns to the others. Admittedly, I don't really like it when my opinion isn't supported. But that doesn't mean you can't have a different opinion. As James and the others begin their workout, it doesn't seem like James is actually working out. He mainly looks for exercise equipment near me and does everything he can to make me laugh. For example, he lies across the weight bench and acts as if he were Superman and would fly through the air saluting. Then he lies on his side with one hand behind his head and acts like he's flirting with me. At some point Steve notices that James isn't really training.
