Bucky: Vicky? Hey, baby, wake up, we've landed.
Victoria: What?
Confused, I blink at James. I didn't even notice that I had actually fallen asleep. He sits down on the bed next to me and gently strokes my hair.
Bucky: We arrived, we landed in Iceland.
Victoria: Really?
I'm still not fully awake. I rub my eyes, hoping to drive away the last bits of sleep.
Bucky: Yep. Now get your sweet ass out of bed, our cabin is waiting for us.
He disappears through the door into the front of the plane, but after a few seconds sticks his head back through the door.
Bucky: And remember, dress warmly. It is much colder here than at home.
Victoria: Okay.
Suddenly I'm totally euphoric, no trace of sleep or tiredness left. I can't wait to see where we stay for the next few weeks. I get out of bed and get dressed again. Dressing warmly is easier said than done - apart from the clothes I wore in New York, I don't have anything here on the plane. Luckily, I chose my winter jacket with bearskin on the inside - as if I had already known it at home. As soon as I'm dressed I follow James outside and I'm immediately hit by ice cold air. Nice, but also really cold. While I'm still standing at the top of the jet's landing, I see James loading our luggage into a black Jeep Wrangler. I assume this is our rental car for the time we are here. By the time I'm down the stairs and with him, he's finished with everything and ready to go.
Bucky: Shall we go?
Victoria: Yes! I can't wait to finally see where you take me.
Bucky: Then let's go. But first......
He pulls me close and kisses me with so much passion that I briefly consider whether we should just go back on the plane. After all, there is a comfortable bed waiting for us...
Victoria: Are you sure we don't want to go back on the plane again?
Bucky: Call me crazy, but yeah. I can't wait to see what you have to say about our home for the next few weeks.
He opens the passenger door for me and whispers in my ear as I slip past him into the car.
Bucky: Plus, the bed there is probably at least as comfortable.
He closes the door, comes around the car and gets in on the driver's side. Just the prospect of all the things he'll do to me when we're at the cabin makes me blush. We drive through snowy landscapes for two hours. All the while, James's hand rests on my thigh as I marvel at everything around me. The landscape here is so beautiful - I feel like a little child faced with a mountain of presents on Christmas morning. At some point, wooden cabins appear in the middle of the snowy landscape. By car it takes about 15 minutes from cabin to cabin. I don't know if James chose this intentionally when he booked the trip, but at least we won't be disturbed and we'll have a lot of privacy, which means no one will notice what we're doing....... so no reason to be quiet or reserved. I love it. The drive takes about ten minutes before we park in front of one of the wooden cabins. Now that we're standing right in front of it, I don't know if cabin is really the right word. The "cabin" is a two-story house with a garage and, as far as I can see from here, a garden with another small wooden hut. Together we enter our home for the next four weeks and... wow! I'm absolutely amazed. When we come in, we are standing directly in the living room, which takes up almost the entire lower floor. On the wall, right by the door, there is a control panel for underfloor heating - which I will definitely use. The wall to the left and opposite of us is made entirely of glass - the opposite glass wall is a sliding door that leads out onto the veranda - where I see a hot tub - and further back is the second, smaller wooden cabin. The floor is dark brown marble and what isn't glass on the walls is made of light wood - I have no idea what kind of wood. In the middle of the room is a huge cream coloured sofa, big enough to squeeze in two king-size beds. In front of it there is a small table that looks tiny compared to the sofa. Opposite, by the window, there is a huge TV console - with a flat screen TV, DVD player and some video game consoles, and there are DVDs and games in the compartments of the TV console. To our left is also a small piece of wall that is not made of glass, where a fireplace is embedded in the wall. If you stand in the living room and turn to the right, you can see the large open kitchen with dining area. The kitchen is also completely decorated in dark marble and light wood and offers all the bells and whistles you could wish for. Instead of a dining table, there is a large kitchen island with a few stools. To the right of the entrance door is a small bathroom - toilet, sink, nothing special. Before we see what it looks like upstairs, we step out onto the porch. There is actually a whirlpool here and to the right there is a small shelter where firewood is stored. We stroll through the snow towards the smaller wooden hut and go inside. This hut seems to me to be a kind of fun and wellness space. Inside, the hut is divided into two parts - on one side there is a small indoor pool and a little further to the left there is a sauna that is big enough for two. On the other side there is basically the same television console with gaming consoles - although the sofa here is much smaller - and a pool table is on the opposite side.
