Levi's POV
"I sentence you 12 years in prison for manslaughter."
The courtroom filled with sobs and cheers of joy. My mother held me tight and refused to let go as the officer slapped a handcuff on my wrist.
"Please, not my baby. It wasn't him I swear!" She pleaded.
Another officer hit her in the back of the knee and she dropped to the ground.
I didn't say anything. I just watched. Watched my brother hold his face in his hands. Watched my little sister scream at the judge. Watched everyone argue.
But worst of all, I watched as my mother began to have a heart attack.
Erwin's POV
I felt a little bad as I escorted the new prisoner to his cell. Hes so short, he won't last a day in here.
He hasn't said anything. Hasn't spoken. Hasn't looked my direction. I feel oddly intrigued by him, however.
Aparentally, he killed two grown men with a box-cutter. He drilled the cutter into the first mans neck and stabbed the other in the heart 5 times. He wouldn't say why. No one knows. Just him.
I unlocked his cell and he stepped halfway in, then hesitated. He turned around.
"Who's my cellmate?" He asked. His voice was quite deep.
"Bone-smasher, as the inmates call him. He will arrive soon. He's just in isolation." I replied.
He nodded, but still did not walk into his cell. I heard a whistle, the kind of whistle a young woman would hear while wearing a tight skirt.
I turned my head. It was bone-smasher, walking with a female cop. I assumed he was whistling at her. I realized I forgot to un-cuff the new prisoner.
I grabbed my key and began unlocking his cuffs. "Whats your name?" I asked , trying to fill the awkard moment.
"Rivaille." He said, rubbing his wrists as the handcuffs fell.
"Officer Smith," I held my hand out. "But you can call me Erwin."
He hesitantly grabbed my pinky and shook it lightly.
"Germs." Was all he said before turning his head to bone-smasher.
Bone-smasher had appeared right beside us without us noticing. He whistled again.
"Hey." He clicked his teeth and winked at Levi. Rivaille rolled his eyes.
"Ew." He muttered.
"Got a problem, little boy?" Bone-smasher asked, grabbing Rivaille by the shirt.
Before I could blink, Rivaille had him on the ground with his arm twisted behind his back.
I quickly pulled Rivaille off of bone-smasher and resisted the urge to laugh at how light he was.
Bone-smasher stood up and huffed, stomping over to his bed and sulking in embarrassment.
I guess Ill let newbie get away with fighting just this once.

Levi's POV
Bone-smasher has been bragging about his muscles and tattoos non-stop. Ive tuned him out but it seems he just continues getting louder and louder.
"Why do they call you bone-smasher?" I interrupted him.
"Cause of the reason I'm in here. Ive broken 37 bones in my lifetime. Most of them were grown men." He grinned.
It was then I realized that this was no adult. This was a damn teenager. 18-19 at least.
He had a tattoo on his right bicep that read Mikasa in cursive. A girlfriend, maybe?
"What're you in for?" He asked.
"Manslaughter." I replied simply, laying my head against the wall.
"Woah, really? We should be a team together. Everyone will fear us!" He did a little dance.
Before I could answer, the guard from earlier opened the cell.
"Bone-smasher, Rivaille."
We looked at him.
"Lunch." He tapped on the cell with his baton and walk off.
I hopped off the top bunk and landed loudly. I cringed slightly, wishing I hadn't jumped. I remembered that day.
Flashback
"Get off of me!" My sister screamed. I could feel my muscles tense.
I gripped the box-cutter in my hand with gritted teeth. I put all my body weight onto the door, slamming into it repeatedly.
After what felt like forever, the door bursted open. A hole shaped like my body imprinted the door.
I stood up and ran at the man hovering over my sister's naked body.
I charged at him, I can't breathe but I don't care. Adrenaline rushed through my body as I aimed for his forehead.
I suddenly felt a hand wrap around my ankle. I tripped only inches away from the man. My box-cutter dug through his neck.
I felt the flesh sink and it gave me even more of an adrenaline rush. I felt excited, to kill someone. The feeling of his blood splatter across my face. I fell on him as he went limp.
Before I could turn around and stab the other man, he twisted my ankle. I screamed in agony.
I held it, dropping my box-cutter. Tears prickled my eyes as the cold realization of me not being able to save my sister set in.
I breathed heavily and reached for the cutter. A foot stepped on my hand, breaking my ring finger.
I cried out. I looked in the doorway to see a figure. My brother. He ran at the man with his shoulder facing his chest.
He plowed into the man, sending him flying into the bookshelf. My sister had gotten re-dressed at this point and helped me to my feet.
We slowly, but surely, made it to the door and limped to my moms room. I turned to look at her room one last time as my brother drilled the cutter into the mans heart repeatedly.
My body hurts. I just wanna lay here and die. Shes safe now. I served my purpose.
End of flashback
I played it off but I can't deny the pain that settled in my leg. I tried not to limp. And if bone-smasher noticed I did, he didn't mention it.
I got my food and began trudging back to my cell while the other inmates sat at tables.
"Psst...Rivaille!" I heard a voice around the corner.
I turned around to see the guard, waving at me politely.
~~~~
I sat down in his office, taking in my surroundings. I chewed the broccoli while he spoke.
"Rivaille, your file is interesting...however, it's missing many things."
I shoved my chewed broccoli to the inside of my cheek.
"Like what?" I said, slightly muffled.
"Like, your date of birth. And allergies...and just- everything about you. We only have mugshots and a few fingerprints." He said, resting his hand on the desk.
He scooted his hand close to mine until his fingers rested on top of mine. I didn't move my hand, but I stopped chewing.
"I believe you're innocent, Levi."
