I wanted to run

I wanted to run. I really did. But something was urging me to stay. Something told me that if I didn't, I'd regret it for the rest of my life.

So when Remi pulled me off of the dance floor and out of the club, I didn't resist. I didn't want him to let go of my hands, either. His touch comforted me just as much as it unnerved me.

I'd never felt this way with any man I'd ever encountered. I wanted to explore this feeling, even if it was just for one night.

Remi took us to a motel that wasn't far from the club, which I didn't mind, since this was the motel I normally used anyway. He paid for two nights in one of their rooms, though I had no idea why, because I didn't plan to stick around after the first night.

But I didn't say anything.

The moment the door closed behind us, Remi grabbed my waist and pulled me into him, his lips crashing against mine with a hunger I'd never be able to understand.

He cushioned the back of my head with his hand as he shoved us back against the door. I wrapped my arms around his neck and melted into him.

Any thoughts of abandoning this decision rushed out the door. I just wanted to feel him.

I trailed my hands down his chest and lifted his shirt so I could have access to the toned chest hiding underneath. My hands roamed every nick and corner, drinking him in as a growl rumbled up his chest and slipped past his lips that molded with mine.

Our tongues battled for dominance, and this was the part I loved best. I hated losing.

Remi's other hand gripped my thigh and hoisted me up so that I'd wrap my legs around his waist. He made me feel weightless as he easily broke away from the door and strode over to the bed. We never broke away from each other and his kiss became even more fiery when I intentionally ran my nails down his chest.

Most men I'd been with didn't necessarily like that. My nails were sharp, and I sometimes nicked a few of them and drew blood. But with Remi, I didn't have to worry about that. With his wolf-like strength, I didn't think he'd mind a little pinch here and there, especially when he'd be preoccupied with the pleasure of being inside me.

We finally pulled away as we fell onto the bed, but I barely got time to breathe as he rolled over to hover over me. We stared at each other, both of our chest heaving with excitement of what was to come. His freakishly blue eyes were glowing again, just like at the club, with a hunger that threatened to swallow me whole.

His mouth curved into a toothy grin and I felt my lower wall crumble as moisture pooled below.

His eyes twinkled. "You're an enigma. I can see the excitement and lust in your eyes... yet I can't hear the erratic beat of your heart. It's odd for a human."

Perceptive.

He was too perceptive.

I felt my heart skip a beat at his observation, and I hesitated. Was it really safe to be this close to a werewolf? What if he somehow found out? We hadn't even been together for long and I could already hear the inquiry in his tone.
