I felt like my honesty was probably the best personality trait that I had inherited from my mother, yet for some reason when I used the same honesty on her, she never approved.

She thought I was wild, ungrateful, and stupid. She also regretted that time I fell off her bed as a babe because obviously there was something wrong with me. Her words, not mine.

I was never one to feed into her dramatics. I was a good daughter when I listened and followed her words like they were God sent but I was a bad one when I questioned and ignored her demands.

I hated expectations.

I hated pressure.

So it wasn't a surprise that I ran away from home as soon as I turned eighteen.

It was the best decision of my life.

I chose to reside in a place that she wouldn't dare to parade around openly.

The Heavenly Alpha Kingdom.

It was a kingdom inhabited by werewolves, but it was also open to humans as well. However, my mother hated wolves. They took my eldest sister away from her and she always lectured me on how much of a monster they were... but I always thought that she was a hypocrite. The real monsters weren't the wolves that bared their fangs at us... it was us. The ones who smiled to their faces then stabbed wolfbane through their backs as soon as they lowered their walls.

I kinda see why my sister killed herself.

It's the same reason I ran away.

To bury my past and unbind myself from the shackles that my mother forced upon me.

I was free now.

Living life however I wanted and enjoying all the things that it had to offer.

That's also why I was here tonight.

Club Zero.

The most popular club in town.

I've been working ten to seven shifts all week and now that it was weekend, I was definitely about to live it up with my girls. I needed a quick weekend getaway to help me get rid of this stress because I swear to God, if that boss of mine put me to work another ten-hour shift, I'm demanding a raise. I was getting paid too fucking little to say I was this dedicated to my job.

I took a sip of my glass of daiquiri and glanced over at my friend Tammy, who sat at the bar next to me. Her eyes constantly flitted around to scan the dance floor.

"You wanna dance already? We just got here," I shouted at her over the music, causing her eyes to drift in my direction.

Her eyes sparkled as she gave a pointed look at my glass. "Heavy drinks already? We just got here."

I grinned and took another sip. "I can hold my own."

She chuckled. "That's my girl. I was actually looking for Jacob."
