I'm a straightforward girl. I see what I like and I take it. It's been the same when I was little and it's still the same now. So when I went out clubbing with my friends that night and I saw this highly attractive guy, I just knew I had to have him...

Remi's eyes searched mine in confusion. He tilted his head. "What are you doing here?"
"Huh? Oh, um, I'm here to watch you train." I replied, blinking. Was my eyes back to normal?
Seeing no reaction on his face, my heart settled, and I turned in his arms to look at Alysa. "I'm not the only one. Your future bride has shown her presence." I smiled teasingly, but the sharp undertone of my voice made him stiffen.
He looked at Alysa and frowned. "You're not wanted here. Leave."
Alysa flinched and bowed her head. "Greetings, Your Highness. I simply came to admire the strength of our kingdom. It has become a habit of mine these days."
"That is unnecessary. You will distract my men."
She clenched her hands in her dress. "I understand. Please allow me to watch for only today."
He shook his head. "Yo-"
"What's this? Is this the human you've been neglecting your duties for?" A strong voice entered our ears. I looked down to see the man that was standing next to Remi looking up at us from the ground. Jakob was standing next to him, an odd look on his face as he glanced between Remi, Alysa, and I.
Remi glared at the man and growled. "Uncle, mind your words. She isn't just a human to me."
Uncle? I tilted my head. So this was Remi's uncle. The enforcing commander. I took a good look at him. He was almost as tall as Remi, his build broader. His eyes looked at me with contempt, rousing my ire.
"Yes, she's your plaything. Send them off. They're interrupting our session." He waved a dismissive hand and turned back to observe his men.
I felt insulted.
Were humans really that weak to them?
"I'm not leaving," I said, gripping Remi's arm and glaring at the man's big head. "If the presence of a little human distracts you from sparring, then you really need to reevaluate who's the strong species here."
The place went silent. Everyone halted their actions to look at me, their eyes bright with their disdain.
Remi's uncle stiffened, and he turned around and narrowed his eyes at my frame. "You dare insult us, girl?"
Remi growled behind me. "Look away!"
Everyone besides his uncle followed his command.
I raised my chin, looking down at him with the arrogance that had been engraved in me since I was born. "You're nothing but humans who got cursed to wear beast skin, yet you act with such disdain to your ancestors. Don't underestimate us. Our bodies may be weak, but our technology has birthed numerous weapons that can wipe you out. I dare ask if you're bulletproof?"
The man barked an angry laugh, his frame trembling. "Remi, control your human. Are you going to allow her to threaten us?"
I looked back at Remi to see that even his face was deep with a frown. He seemed to not appreciate my words. Our eyes met, and they softened. He spoke gently. "Celeste, saying things like that isn't appropriate. It puts me in a tight spot."
