I'm a straightforward girl. I see what I like and I take it. It's been the same when I was little and it's still the same now. So when I went out clubbing with my friends that night and I saw this highly attractive guy, I just knew I had to have him...

She tensed in my arms and twisted her head to look at me. Her eyes were wide open, dewy from sleep.
"How did you know?" She asked, her voice ripe with confusion.
If I were to be honest, it was a guess.
My suspicions started when I realized how stiffly she laid in my arms. She only moved once, and that was to make herself comfortable. I felt like she was awake the entire time, and I said that to know if I was right.
I was.
I smiled and shrugged a shoulder. "Well, there's not much that can pass my eyes."
She gave me a doubtful glance and pursed her lips. "So you're a royal alpha?"
I raised an eyebrow, loving the curiosity in her eyes. She was curious about me. There was hope.
"You know that much? You must have loved your research." I teased.
She rolled her eyes. "I wish I'd read that they have a habit of kidnapping."
I chuckled. "Would that have made a difference?"
"Lots."
She shifted in my lap and attempted to sit up, but I tightened my arms around her and kept her glued to my side. I was anxious. I was afraid she'd run again if I let my guard down.
This week was torture for me. I constantly wondered where she was and what she was up to. The minute Jakob came back with news, I was ready to charge over and snatch her away. However, a few issues arose and took my time.
Celeste's documents were forged. She wasn't from my kingdom, and we couldn't find any information from before she moved here, either. There was nothing about her family, where she was born, or where she lived. Everything was forged. Usually, in this case, that meant that she was either running from something, or someone.
Would she tell me if I admitted to being the Alpha King? I could protect her from whatever forced her into my kingdom.
When she realized I wouldn't let her go, she stopped struggling and stared at me expectantly.
"What?" I asked.
"What do you mean, what? Where are you taking me? And when can I leave?"
I flinched. Dissatisfaction reared its head, but I refrained from showing it and kept my smile plastered on my lips. She wasn't saying that because she didn't want to be with me. I had to convince myself.
"I know this situation is confusing to you, I understand, but I promise you it'll be worth it."
"That still doesn't answer my questions," she pointed out.
"I have an important matter to discuss with you. Don't worry, where we're going is completely safe."
She raised an eyebrow. "My apartment was safe until someone barged in. Is this matter so important that it requires drastic measures like kidnapping?"
