I'm a straightforward girl. I see what I like and I take it. It's been the same when I was little and it's still the same now. So when I went out clubbing with my friends that night and I saw this highly attractive guy, I just knew I had to have him...

"Celeste has been kidnapped from the mall. We can't find her. We believe she was taken by the assassin."
I couldn't describe the feeling that came over me after hearing those words. My body reacted on its own, and everything else around me disappeared.
All I could think about was her.
I shifted into my wolf before I could even leave the castle, crashing into the large double doors and running off toward the outer city.
My heart was ringing in my ears, and my eyes were laser-focused on the path in front of me. My chest rumbled with the sound of my feral growls, and my thirst for blood poured out of me in waves.
I cursed myself for not being able to sense her. If we were fully mated, I'd be able to know if she was fine or not... but my chest was empty. There was no connection between us and this was the first time it terrified me.
I could barely register anything else as I rushed past the guards and into the mall. The entire place was now on lockdown, and many humans and wolves were gathered on the first floor, going through a thorough inspection.
I couldn't be bothered with them. I only needed to know where Celeste was last. Although it was hard for me to sense her, I could at least smell her. I knew her scent better than anyone else. It was engraved in me from the moment we met. If I could get her scent, I'd be able to track her down.
It had to be me.
I met Jakob talking to the new personal maid I'd hired for Celeste outside of the bathroom door. She was shaking, tears running down her face as she explained that she had no idea what happened.
My fury boiled.
This was what happened when I placed someone weak by her side. She let them get to my mate. She needed to be killed.
"Lock her up in the castle dungeon," I snarled through the link as I approached, startling them as the power radiating from my body crashed down onto their shoulders.
The maid cried out and fell to her knees, her body shaking. "I'm sorry, Alpha King Remington!" She stuttered, blood dripping from her nose as her body shrunk under my authority.
"Remi-" Jakob started.
"Move!" I snarled, not bothering to even look at him as I rushed into the bathroom.
My eyes roamed the walls and floors keenly, my nose twitching as multiple scents crashed into it. I growled in frustration.
"How did they get out!?" I whipped around to face Jakob, who silently followed me into the room.
He pointed at the window. "Up there. That's the only exit besides the doors."
I looked at the window and immediately shifted into my human form. It was high, even for my tall frame. I jumped up and grabbed onto the ledge, hoisting myself up to look outside.
